Thunder roars outside of Anna's bedroom, rain hitting hard against the windows. Anna tries not jumping from the booming of the thunder low above her house as she presses her lips against Meg's. The lights are off, the only lighting they get at times is from the flashing lightning that brightens the entire room. Anna rolls onto her back, Meg moving on top of her and gently kissing her neck. Anna closes her eyes, trying to drown out the noise of the TV across from her bed, broadcasting the news.
"As you can see, the hurricane is getting worse." The newsman calls into his microphone, clearly getting hit hard by the storm. "I suggest you get to the lowest parts of your homes or to any sort of secure shelter."
"Getting pretty bad out there, isn't it?" Meg perks up, clearly listening to the news as well. She glances over her shoulder at the TV and then down at Anna. "Shall we bring this down to the basement?"
"But this is kind of perfect." Anna sits up on her elbows and glances around her room. Ever since Josh found the two of them together, Anna only second guessed her relationship with Meg a little bit but didn't tell her about it. She knows that it might be irresponsible but she really doesn't want to be thinking too much into the future. She just wants to live in the moment and not have to worry about what will happen next or anything like that. "Making out with you during a storm, in my room, no one home... I like it."
"I like it too." Meg kisses her lips again and glances out the window at the pouring rain. "But I guess we can spare our lives for just a little longer."
"Yes please." Anna grins, pulling Meg back down to her and kissing her again.Tabby stands in the front window of her house, watching the rain hit hard against the ground outside. Dalton is behind her in the living room, singing along to one of the cartoons he's always watching. Tabby has been keeping up on the news updates with her phone, scared out of her mind from this storm. She's never been the biggest fan of these things. She used to hide under her blankets, afraid the thunder would get her or something. She'd hate seeing the lightning make it's way to the darkest places inside and she'd pretend that the rain is just running water but could never convince herself.
Tabby takes out her phone from the back pocket of her blue jeans and dials Harrow's number but it goes straight to voicemail. "Harrow, it's Tabby. I'm a little scared out of my mind from this storm and it would be pretty relaxing if you stayed on the phone with me to wait it out. Hope you're safe."
After hanging up, Tabby returns to the couch, where her son is dancing around the coffee table, wearing a cowboy hat and a cape. How is he not afraid of these things? How is he not freaking out like she would do as a kid? She glances around the dark living room, hugging her knees to her chest. Pops is off visiting Grams at the nursing home and she told him not to drive home during the storm and he had agreed. Now, she's here with Dalton, shaking with fright."It's really coming down out there." Rhyannon observes from the window of his photography studio. His hands are in the pockets of his black jacket as he casually watches a blue and white striped umbrella roll blow through the rain and puddles. Rhyannon turns around to look at Hayden, who is patching up the wall with the equipment he brought. Rhyannon insisted that Hayden shouldn't come out here to fix up the hole in the wall he put there to fix the pipe again but Hayden said he better do it today rather than another.
"This place doesn't have a basement, does it?" Hayden glances out the windows.
"No." Rhyannon leaves the window, the lamp on his desk flickering. "And I have a feeling it won't have power pretty soon either." Rhyannon fiddles with the silver button on his jacket, wondering if he should dismiss Hayden or just leave himself. After that awkward realization about having a small crush on Hayden, Rhyannon has taken it upon himself to distance himself as far away from him as possible. He should've just hired a new carpenter but Hayden knows the situation here, he knows the details about how to fix this thing. Rhyannon really wants to just go home because being stuck here with Hayden is probably the worst scenario. "Maybe we should just finish this another day."
"Why?" Hayden looks at him. "I don't think I'll be able to leave any time soon so I might as well just finish now while I'm here."
"Well maybe I can just leave you the key." Rhyannon suggests, willing to do anything to get out of this situation.
"Do you really not want to be around me that much?" Hayden's brow furrows. When Rhyannon doesn't say anything, he speaks again. "You're not leaving and neither am I. This wall needs fixed and it's too dangerous going out there so I guess you're stuck with me."
Rhyannon rolls his eyes at how accurate he is. If he were to leave, he'd get swept up in the hurricane. All he can do is stay here, not say a word to Hayden, and just wait this thing out.
