"Clean that television stand again. It's dusty." Halima dropped the mop can at the front door and picked a rag from nearby, wet it with water and wiped the stand down. She did it drowsily, her mother had woken her as early as four to clean the house and Halima who didn't sleep early because she was discussing with Summayah felt it.

Halima finished and went outside to mop the front steps, her mother came over, stood at the door and began to give her pointers on how to mop it. "Scrub it well." Halima sighed and stopped moping. She raised her eyes and gave her mother a side eye.

"Mummy. I can clean the front steps without any pointers." She continued to clean the floor. Her mother hissed and walked angrily back inside. Halima in a fit of childishness stood and mimicked her mother's orders.

Soon she was done and once she stepped inside, the scent of heavenly incense assailed her nostrils. She shook her head. Her mother was nervous, her parternal family didn't get to come until around nine, but her mother wanted to boast of a clean house because they always came with a curious and judging eye. 'why's the floor so dusty? Amirah, you've gone lax with your wifely duties'

Halima knew all these things so she didn't complain, instead she kept her cleaning supplies and walked off to her room to take a bath. When she stepped out of the bathroom, she found her mother waiting on her bed. She spied some clothes her mother laid out and groaned.

"Mum?" Her mother raised her head and sighed. Halima mentally rolled her eyes.

"Sadiyya dear. Come sit down." Halima patted the towel she had fashioned into a turban on her head and walked to hee mother's side. She knew what was about to come.

"Why are you late?"

Halima rolled her eyes and slid into the car seat, she strapped her seatbelt before answering exasperatedly. "My mother. She decided today as the day of lectures. I received a long talk from seven am till nine when my father's relatives came." Summayah giggled and turned on the ignition of her car.

Halima looked in the backseat and rubbed Jariyah's curls. Jariyah sent her a smile and Halima squealed happily. "You've lost your front teeth." Jariyah smiled proudly and turned to open her purse. Then she flashed two minty one thousand naira notes at Halima.

"Daddy gave them to me this morning. For being a trong girl when I lost tem." The loss of her front teeth was affecting her speech. Halima smiled and sent the little girl a kiss.

"So, where do we begin?" Summayah stated the itinerary for the day. Halima and Jariyah clapped their hands and danced.

Soon enough, they arrived at the amusement park they were going as they parked, Halima remembered something.

"Did I tell you what Haniya Usman did at my shop a few days back?" Summayah shook her head and waited for Halima to speak, she seemed to havw a fair idea what was going on.

"Well, she found out Jamal posted me on his Instagram and she kept cursing and ranting, calling Jamal names." Summayah laughed a bit at the last word.
