"I'm so sorry for the inconvenience." She apologized and took her phone off her ear meekly. Summayah was angry.

" Every single thing has become hectic since we fixed the wedding date. I completely forgot about the dress-maker appointment and then went to fix a meeting with a client to cut and style her hair." She listened to Summayah kiss her teeth in anger.

"Alright, I'll see her in my office." She acquiesced to the dress-maker coming to her office. They were still in the preliminary stages of planning anyways.

"Don't be angry now. Please bestie." She knew Summayah's buttons and when to press them. She just pressed on of them. Summayah was asking what she'd like for lunch.

"You'll bring me lunch? Oh Ya Allah. You're so my fave. I'd like chicken wings and Jollof rice. In different packs oo, today is my cheat day." She ended the call and danced on her seat. She had killed two birds with a stone.

Her door sounded with a knock so she calmed herself and walked to open it. "Your ten-thirty is here ma." Halima nodded, and walked outside her office on the heels of her employee. When she reached the outer salon, she greeted the client with a smile. It was the wife of a minister who wss trying to curry favor with mummy, such that she first called Mummy before she made the appointment with Halima.

"Welcome to Sadiyya's place. I hope you found it without trouble?" Halima watched her widen her lips into a smile. "I found it easily. I just want to know if my hair van be salvaged. I tried to dye it and it turned disastrous." Halima arched a brow at her and ushered her into the smaller room in the salon.

"Let's see the hair." Halima leaned against the mirror table and watched her untie her scarf. Halima wondered why she would not take off her sun-glasses. When she pulled off her scarf, Halima knew immediately.

"Who did this to you?" Halima asked breathlessly. The woman's hair was cut in clumps around the center of her head. The woman sighed and took off her sun-glasses. Halima shook her head as tears sprung to her eyes.

"Innalilahi! Oh my goodness. I'm so sorry." Halima watched the woman smile sadly at her reflection in the mirror.

"Don't worry about who did this to me, just how can you salvage the hair." Halima shook her head and waited till she was calm before walking round to her back to look at how bad the damage was. Her hair was gone, Halima picked a glove, wore it and poked at the hair. It was so soft and silky and all gone. Her heart broke.

"What's your name?" Halima watched her get startled before she regained herself. "Munira." Halima knew they were around the same age because Jamal's mother told her.

"Munira, I'd have to cut off all your hair. But, we'll keep the undergrowth, I'd mix you a herbal solution, your hair will be back in a year." Halima watched her nod and as she nodded, tears ran down her cheeks unheeded. Halima shut her eyes in heartbreak.

"Im sorry." Munira shook her head at Halima's apology. "No need to apologise. I should have been less stupid. It's all my fault, I shouldn't have made him angry." Halima shook her head again. She wished she had not heard Munira. The man whom she had married was regarded as one of the gentlest finance ministers the country had ever seen. It was just so ironic.

"Please help me cut the hair and please keep my secret." She took Halima's hand from where it was sitting on the arm of the chair she was sitting on.

"Please." Halima nodded. And walked to the scissors cupboard to get a pack of brand new scissors.

Halima wearily walked into her office, she had seen Summayah walk in with a lady carrying a large bag earlier. So, she knew the dress maker was around.

"Bestie." She weakly greeted Summayah. Cutting Munira's beautiful hair had drained her of all the positive energy she had gathered before leaving home.

"What's up?" Halima shook her head and made a sign with her hands, Summayah settled back down visibly relaxed, she knew the sign, they'd talk later.

"This is Kemi. She's the dress-maker. She just graduated from the London school of design and I ready to dress you. I found her on Instagram after looking her delicate eye for designs and i thought you'd like her." Halima nodded and took the iPad Summayah had stretched out to her.

"Wow. These are great Kemi. Wow." She marveled as she flipped through outfit after outfit. "Why haven't you been dressing big people, gosh, you're really good." She watched Kemi smile, her small white teeth came out beautifully.

"And she's so pretty Summayah." Summayah smiled like a cat after a drink of good milk. She knew Halima loved quality stuff.

"What do you have for me Kemi." Kemi smiked and opened the large bag she was carrying with her. She brought out a book of fabric swatches. Halima out her hand to her mouth in anticipation.

"I thought, for the pre-wedding pictures, you should wear a slightly dark blue laffaya, and a stark white blouse inside and white scarf. This." She handed the lace swatches to Halima and Summayah. "Is what I felt would look best on you, considering your beautiful complexion and body type."

Halima nodded at Kemi and showed Summayah the fabric she was holding. "I like this one." She showed her a dark blue lace fabric with white threading.

"Nice choice. Who's the photographer?" Summayah cleared her throat and answered. "Big H. He comes with the planner." Kemi nodded approvingly.

"He's a very good photographer, has a good team too. He knows how to work with light. I'll be sending him details of how I want to shoot to go. I hope you don't mind?" Halima thought of it and shook her head. "As long as we're not naked." They all laughed.

"So, for the Kamu ceremony. I don't want you to wear the Iro and Buba everyone seems to be wearing. Lemme show you a design i made." As Kemi looked up from her booting iPad, she saw Captain Mushin sitting behind his superior on the television. Her ebony skin went pale immediately and by some sort of providential knowledge, Halima saw her gag and ran for her waste basket, seconds after Kemi collected it from her, she was emptying her breakfast into the bucket.

"Oh God."  What just happened? She sat bonelessly into her seat when she saw Muhsin's stoic face behind his superior. Then she looked at Kemi who was hurling her guts into the bucket loudly. Then she understood. When Kemi got better, she showed her the bathroom and changed the channel where Muhsin's superior was speaking to the press.

"I'm so sorry Miss Halima. Please forgive me. I thought I'd have a better reaction after not seeing him for a long time." Halima inclined her head since she was sitting and Kemi was standing.

"You know him?" She asked not responding to Kemi's apology.

"He was my molester." Halima sighed and scoffed in Summayah's direction in anger. "So it was not just me?"

Summayah got up and held both Kemi and Halima to her tall frame. "Isn't it high time he begins to reap his karma?"
