"Is he okay, at least?" Taehyung asked through his phone, heart aching.

"He's okay, but I don't think he ever wants to see you again." HyeJin spoke softly, hearing the pain and fear in Taehyung's tone.

Taehyung sighed heavily, feeling his throat tighten. "Th-That's okay...uhm—that's up to him. I should respect that." The younger thought about his next words carefully, not knowing exactly how to tell someone that he had quite literally killed a human being. A disgusting human being at that.

"Listen, Tae, there's a lot you don't know about the years you were gone." HyeJin started first, giving Taehyung a chance to think. "Jungkook...h-he didn't handle your quote on quote passing."

"Is it true he really tried to kill himself?" Taehyung interrupted, throat only feeling tighter, like someone was choking him ruthlessly.

A moment of hesitation. "Yes. That would be correct."

Taehyung paused, heart aching more and more by the passing seconds. It hurt—that someone would try to take their life because of you. Because of a decision you made.

But at the same time, Taehyung didn't force
Jungkook to attempt ending his life. He merely made a decision that Jungkook used as a reason to try to kill himself.

That wasn't his fault.

"It wasn't your fault." HyeJin continued. "He made that decision, Tae. Not you. Don't blame yourself."

Taehyung let out a short exhale. "I don't...I just- I don't know." He didn't know. Everything was too much for him right now. "I love him, HyeJin..."

"I know."

"I love him and I just want to be with him. I want him to be happy and to live freely. I thought that's what I was doing when I left! But—n-no. I just hurt him. I hurt him and now I don't think he will ever forgive me."

"Tae..." HyeJin said softly, listening to Taehyung let out a dry sob.

"I-I did s-something." Taehyung cried softly. "And- and I th-think he will hate me more if he f-finds out."

HyeJin paused. "What did you do?"

Taehyung sighed, he knew both of them were in secure places, so he confessed.

"I killed Lucas." It came out more monotonous than he meant it too, but I guess that's what killing someone does to you. You kinda lose a lot of emotion.

He wondered how his mean didn't go insane. But then again—maybe they were already insane.

There was a long moment of silence where the only sound was the thumping of Taehyung's heart in his ears.

Would she hate him too? Would she be afraid? No—she couldn't. They did this for years. What difference did it make if Taehyung killed someone and not Jimin or Hoseok.

"Y-You...what?" HyeJin let out, shock evident in her tone.

"I killed Lucas." Taehyung repeated. "It wasn't supposed to happen the way it did. I just—I confronted him about his past with Koo, and he didn't have any regrets or sorrow in his eyes. And when he smirked—I...I lost control."

Another long moment of silence. Heavy, deep silence that pulled Taehyung further and down into the depths of his unspoken anxiety.

"Taehyung—tell me you got Jackson's crew to clean everything up." HyeJin stressed.

"I did. He was the first person I called. Right after it happened." Taehyung reassured. "I'm not an amateur."

A relief sigh. "Oh thank god. Okay, I see your motive and personally, I support your decision. He was—a horrible person from Kookie's side. But, right now we need a plan."

"Plan? For what?" Taehyung asked softly.

"Getting Kookie and you back together." Taehyung could hear the smile in HyeJin's voice.

He smiled as well, "Alright. But if he gets mad, it was your fault." They both chuckled.

And that was it. The start of one brilliant plan to get 'Taekook' back together, as HyeJin put it.
