POV: Jerome

I peered out from the leaves of the large oak tree I've grown to love, ignoring the rough bark that was scraping my knees,looking at the chocolate brunette that was passing through the forest.

I wanted so badly to pounce out at him, to attack him with hugs and "I love you"s. But I couldn't; I was a beast, and he was a hunter. He would kill me on sight... wouldn't he?

"You could just ask for help, Jerome."

"What could you even do for me?" I asked.

"Well, we'll see about that later. You do realize I could do something though, right?"

"Yes, yes I do, Winter," I told my guardian angel, "But I don't think you could do anything helpful."

I could feel her scowl. "I could too! You just wait."

"Yeah, right," I said.

"Oh, come on! I totally could! I... You... Grr..."

I laughed. "You're so fun to mess with," I said.

"Grr... Do you want help or not?

I smiled and laid on my back, looking up at the clear sky through the leaves. "Yeah, sure, but in a while. I'm okay where I am now." I said, taking a bite of raw fish.

I lied there thinking for a while before I fell asleep, still drunk on the brunette's eyes.

"Someday... Someday..."

"What? Who's there?!" I called. "Who are you?"

"Someday... One day... One day..."

"What?"

"One of these days, one of these days..."

"Show yourself!"

"One of these days you'll understand, you'll have a day to earn his hand..."

"Huh?"

"You must be careful, be sure you don't blow it, it could break your heart in a way you can't sew it..."
