POV: Phil

Dear Mitch,
I'm going to the castle again today; yes, I survived. And I got a job, too. There's really good pay and stuff. On top of that, I get to see the prince everyday. Call me crazy, but I think he likes me. We listened to fireflies in his bedroom and our faces got really close together. I think he was about to kiss me, but the king called for him.

You know, I don't think of him as the prince. I think of him as my friend. Maybe even more than just my friend.

Well, I'm off to the castle. I'll see you after your camping trip.

Sincerely,
Phil

I put my notepad down and scurried to the castle. The guards seemed to recognize me this time, and they let me in on sight.

As I walked in, I found Dan was not in the living room. I pondered what to do for a moment before getting the idea of going to his bedroom.

I walked up the many flights of stairs until I reached the fifth floor. I walked down to the seventh door to the right; the door at the end of the hallway; before another maid, a blonde female, pulled me aside.

"I wouldn't disturb him if I were you," She whispered. "He can be dangerous."

"Dangerous?" I whispered, confused.

"Yes, dangerous. That's what I've heard, anyway. Us peasants don't think very good of prince Dan here, either way. I just have a hunch, y'know? With his bossiness and all, and his stuck-up attitude. I don't like him, and neither does anyone else."

I nodded. "W-well I'm going to knock anyways," I said, walking back to the door.

"Good luck," She laughed, walking away.

As soon as she was out of sight, I knocked on the stone door.

Dan's face peered out of the door as it creeked open. His expression lifted greatly as he saw me. He opened the door completley and guestured for me to come in.

I walked into his bedroom and smiled at him. He closed the door and locked it as he did the day before.

"Well, hello there, bestie," He said.

"Hello to you too, my bestest friend," I replied.

"I have an idea!"

"What is it?"

"We should draw cat noses and whiskers on ourselves!"

I laughed at his idea. "Okay, get some washable markers and we'll get this trend going!"

We were both smiling like goofballs as he got a black marker and uncapped it.

He stood in front of me and drew a cat nose and whiskers on my face. "There," He said, "Now do my whiskers."

He handed me the marker and I drew on his face, adding little dots to the spots where the whiskers supposedly grew from.

We both laughed and he put the marker away.

"Ya know, if I hung a rope ladder from the window sill, we could climb out of the window and I could take you to the forest ," He said, looking out the window.
