POV: Phil
Dear Mitch,
The king of Drokor summoned me today. I wonder what he wants. Maybe he wants to hire me. That's a lot better than execution, so let's go with that. Why wouldn't he want to execute me? I'm a peasant of the lowest class. I'm worthless. I'm a pawn in this game called life, and my player is downright loosing. Maybe I'll win someday.
Anyway, if you don't see me again, it's because I was executed. So buh-bye I guess.
Sincerley, Phil
I pinned my note to the wall of my humble home and ran to the castle, ignoring the butterflies in the pit of my stomach, ignoring the fact that I was going to die.
"Hi, I'm here to see the king? I'm Phillip Lester."
The guards looked confused, but they let me in anyway. I walked in to see Prince Dan the third, standing against a wall with a drawing journal.
He turned his head to look at me. His face seemed to light up as he saw me, his eyes filling with something, a look of joy, perhaps.
"Well that's strange," I thought. "Why would the prince be happy to see me?"
"Well, hello there, Phillip," He said, smiling at me. "My father was wondering if we could hire you? You'll get double the pay of your old job as one of our maids."
My eyes widened at his offer. "Y-you mean you're not gonna kill me?"
He chuckled. "Why would I do that?"
"I dunno," I said.
He smiled. "Follow me," He said, walking up the nearest set of stairs.
I followed him until he stopped at a door, 4 stories above ground level. "This is my room," He said.
I nodded and followed him into the room.
He closed the door, locking it behind him (I know what you're thinking, pervs! And that's not it! >~<).
"I want you to know, I don't just want you to be my maid," He said, "I want you to be my friend."
"Okay," I said.
I thought about my best friend, Mitch. I wondered if Dan and I could ever be like that; after all, he was a prince.
"J-just be sure my dad doesn't find out," He said. "I would get in serious trouble."
I nodded.
"I have my own bathroom, ya know," He said. "You could take a shower."
My expression lightened greatly. "Really?!"
"Yeah, really," He said, smiling.
-Time skip to after Phil showers, you pervs don't get to read that XD-
"You can borrow some of my clothes Phillip," Dan said. "I have some more casual stuff for when I'm alone."
I smiled. "Thanks!" I said. "And call me Phil, okay?"
"Okay," He said, tossing me a pair of jeans, a T-shirt that was a little big on me, and a pair of boxers. I thanked him again and put them on in the bathroom.
"Ya know... I've never jad a friend," He sighed. "A lot of people think it would be so fun to be royalty, but it gets so lonely..."
"Really?" I asked.
"Really. Everyone seems to think I'm naturally all professional, but I'm not, I'm just a normal kid... Hey, have you ever used an MP3 player?"
"An MP3 player?" I asked, confused. "What's that?"
