The leaves on the trees rustle gently as cool breezes brush the air through an opening in the treetops. The opening was large and allowed moonlight to brighten the area inside. The tree free area was dotted by the structure of a shabby wooden house. The front of the house had a centered dark wood door with murky windows on either side of it. There were also a few run-down steps leading up to a small porch that extended from the front. At the bottom of the steps against one of the posts, sat Jeff with the unconscious form of Night laying against him. Jeff was staring at a patch of flowers and weeds near his feet, his arm resting around Night. Well, it was good that we managed to find some sort of light. Too bad it's night already. We really have been wandering around forever. Jeff thought, his chest rising gradually to let out a heavy sigh. Jeff took his gaze off the plants and placed it on the moon above. Its form was fuller than half but not quite full, still enough to light up the scenery below it well. Jeff pondered his thoughts, his stare fixed on the moon.
He wondered about the problems in play at the moment. There was Night's death in the first place that was a catalyst for other issues to follow. To everyone's relief (those who were present to know of it, anyway) Night was able to be brought back from the dead, but now with a lot of her memories missing, there were different concerns. Jeff himself didn't fear any change in her loyalties to the family that had been formed among him and the other unlikely murderers. A smile spread softly on Jeff's face as he thought about that word. Family. He had his previous outbursts against the idea, but now he was rather fond of it. Even if there was no going back to those days before he changed forever, this new family of his was comforting despite it all. A sudden ache rose in Jeff's heart and he grabbed at the cloth over his chest with his free hand. I guess we can all still have feelings, that's not so hard to imagine... Though we're all immediately demonized since we have enough push to take a person's life. Jeff let's out a puff of air and looks down at Night's sleeping form.
Her mouth was slightly opened as she breathed steadily. Heat built up in Jeff's skin as he observed her. In this moment, you really couldn't tell she was someone who killed for a living. The peace that cloaked her face was soothing and feigned innocence. I wonder if it is feigned, actually? She's still a good person at heart... I think? But what really is innocence? Not committing certain acts or a person's personality? Jeff sighs, slightly aggravated. He envied Night's sleep because here he was brooding about random things while she rested. "Well, I always did think too much... That's the curse of loneliness." He mutters aloud to himself, his pained gaze still on Night. Jeff shakes his head and looks back up at the sky, deciding to switch his thoughts back to the current problems at hand. A lot of time passed, and Night remained asleep as Jeff wandered his thoughts. Jax was definitely the better option right now. They didn't really know where Masky was and how could they trust the creature that killed Night who just happened to know where Masky was? It also wasn't very likely that they'd just happen to run into Masky anyway. Masky was smart about his actions and if he wanted to stay hidden, he'd succeed every time.
A chill suddenly washed over Jeff and he felt his whole body tense up and his hair beginning to tingle. It felt like they were being watched. Shit, here I am in a vulnerable state and we're being stalked? Jeff let out a heavy breath and gritted his teeth. He takes his free hand and shakes Night's shoulder gently. "Oi, sleeping beauty." He whispers as he lowers his head closer to her ear. He kept shaking her shoulder and he could see her eyes moving under her eyelids. "You awake?" Jeff continued to whisper. Night's lids opened slowly to reveal her eyes and she stared forward. "Hmm...?" She groaned, her gaze still ahead. Jeff's hand was still on her shoulder and he tightened his grasp a bit but not roughly. "Don't panic, just stay put. But something's watching us." He says quietly, lifting his head and looking around them. He could only see trees, the same view he had for a while now. "Ish probably Shlender." Night says groggily, her eyes blinking slowly. Jeff grinned and held back a laugh. "Oi, dummy. We're on a mission in a foreign forest, remember? Wake up." Jeff mutters, beginning to shake her shoulder some more. Night makes a snorting sound and looks up at Jeff.
