Night awoke to sheer silence and sat up, rubbing her eyes gently and yawning. She stopped rubbing her eyes and began repeatedly blinking her eyes, adjusting her vision to the darkness. She looked around confused and then made and 'oh' sound. That's right, no window... She thought. She knew it couldn't have still been nighttime because she felt too rested. Her eyes eventually accustomed to the darkness and she realized Masky was gone as she looked to her right. She frowned faintly and let out a saddened sigh. She crawled over to the other side of the bed and reached her hand out to the lamp and turned the light on. Her pupils instantly dilated as they took in the brightness of the light.
Almost immediately after the light was turned on, Night brought her hands up to her eyes to shield them. She blinked her eyes a multitude of times and they finally got used to the illumination. Night slung her feet over the side of the bed and hopped off and walked over to the door. She opened it slowly, making sure not to make any sound. After she closed it, she made her way out back to where the statue was. When she got to the statue, she noticed something black on the other side of it from where she was staring. She narrowed her eyes to make out more and snuck forward to the statue quietly. As she got to the statue, she peeked her head more to the side to see the figure.
The 'figure' turned out to be a person. She didn't recognize him so this puzzled her. He was wearing a black hoodie, grey jeans, and black sneakers. She looked up more to his face and saw he was wearing a dark navy blue mask with large black circles where the eyes would be and black cloth material, like the material Masky has for his mask, covering the filling of the circles. There were what looked like black tears coming down from the circles. This person was leaning against the statue and reading what seemed like a very large novel; he was really far in it... Night was going to retreat from her position, but she started reading the page the male was on. She eventually finished both pages that were available to her and was waiting for the guy to turn the page. Why wasn't he turning the pages, though...? If anything, he should have turned it by now...
Night glanced up at the guy and noticed he was staring down at her. She gasped in surprise and fell back, groaning as she fell hard on her back as she hit the wooden floorboards. Night sat up groaning and bent her spine back and leaned forward, letting out a low growl. She heard movement in front of her and looked up to see that the male closed his book and set it on the platform of the statue and walked over to her. He stretched his arm out and Night grabbed his hand. The male gently helped her up with a firm but soft grasp. "Are you okay?" The male had a low and silky voice. It alleviated Night's mind and she flashed him a grateful smile. "Yes, thank you." She bowed her head a little and dropped her arms to her side. The male shifted around a little and propped back on the statue, crossing his arms.
"So what's your name?" He asked. Night felt warmer at every word he said, his voice had a nice feeling to it. She blinked twice and averted her gaze to the floor; although his voice was relaxing, his mask gave her slight chills. "It's Shadowed Night, but you can just call me Night." She gave a small curtsy. The male laughed softly and put his right hand across his chest and leaned forward a bit and straightened back up and let his arm fall to his side. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Night. Your formality is pleasing and reminds me of the Slenderman. They call me E.J. but it is just an acronym for Eyeless Jack." He introduced himself. Night gave a soft grin and looked down at the floor. She liked the compliment, except the part of where it made him think of the Slenderman...
Night blinked her eyes a couple of times, still trying to look away from E.J.'s mask. "So, um..." Night started and bit her bottom lip. She glanced up at E.J. to see him tilt his head to the side. "H-have you seen... Masky at all? Or Hoodie... or Toby?" She questioned, her voice quivering. "Yeah, they all had to leave to take care of something for the Slenderman. Masky actually asked me to watch over you and make sure you stay fine, just in case you get too anxious due to your people problems." E.J. elucidated. Night stared blankly at the floor then looked up at E.J., her brow rutted. "He seriously wanted someone to 'watch over me'? What in the name of Slender does he mean by that? And people problems?" She growled. E.J. cringed a bit and put a hand on the back of his oak colored, ruffled hair. "Perhaps he just meant that since you have a fear of talking to new people you don't know, that it would be better if I kept an eye on you and made sure you didn't get too stressed if one of the others came here, since they are all very talkative." He said, his words rushed.
