"California is always on my mind." — David Hockney
Song: Boyfriend by Selena Gomez
I continue to cling to Grayson, not caring if I look like a spider monkey at this point. He tightens his hold on me, so I'm assuming he doesn't mind either.
He chuckles softly into my hair. "Your family is grinning like crazy at us." I pull back, and finally place my feet on the floor.
"We have plans with my dads family for part of the day, but I would really like to see you later. I need to talk to you about something."
"A good something or a bad something?" He asks, an eyebrow raised.
"I think it's good?" I say with a laugh. Hopefully it's good, and he feels the same way I do.
"Okay. Well, I will see you later then. I wanted to see you when you arrived." He smiles, brushing hair out of my face.
"You can drive me to my grandparents house if you want to." I offer, not ready to say goodbye just yet.
"Of course I want to."
"Let me tell my parents." I smile, and walk back to my family.
"That was so adorable I want to vomit." Ashton says, fake gagging. My dad smacks him upside the back of the head, making me laugh.
"Grayson is going to drive me to grandma and grandpa's, so I'll meet you there."
"Okay. Be careful, sweetie. See you in a bit." My mom kisses my cheek and hugs me, then my dad kisses my forehead and hugs me too.
"See you in a few, Linnie." I wave to them, and walk back over to Grayson.
"Ready." I smile. He grabs my hand, and leads me out of the airport. We walk outside, and he comes to a stop next to a white Jeep, that looks just like mine.
"I thought you might miss your Jeep, so I rented one for you." He says with a grin. I can't help but smile in return.
"You're the best, Gray." He opens the passenger door, and I hop in. He shuts the door, then goes around, and gets in the drivers side. We drive off, and I give him the address for my grandparents house.
According to my mom, it's more like a mansion. Considering there was a family of nine living there at once, I believe it.
After about ten minutes, we pull up to the gate outside the house, and pull up to the intercom box. "How can I help you today?" A voice suddenly asks.
"Hi, my name is Raelinn Emerson, my parents are Ryder and Annie Emerson." I say, holding up my license in front of the camera. Then Gray holds his up. "And this is Grayson Taylor, his parents are Garrett and Eliza Taylor."
"Go right on in, Miss Emerson, Mr. Taylor." The voice says, and the gates open. We drive through the gates, and pull around the horseshoe driveway.
"Good afternoon, Miss Emerson, Mr. Taylor. Would you like me to park your car for you?" A man asks, stepping over to the car.
"I'm just dropping her off, actually." Gray says with a smile. I get out of the car, and Gray gets out and hands my bags to a guy named Phillip. I've heard about him, he worked here when my parents lived here.
"Come back in a couple hours?" I ask Gray, pulling him into a hug.
"Of course. I'll see you later." He kisses my forehead, and gets back into the car. The smile doesn't leave my face, as I make my way up the front steps, and into the house.
"Oh my goodness, Raelinn Noelle, you've grown up!" A male voice says. I look up, and smile, running into his arms.
"Uncle Carter!" He lifts me into the air, making me laugh. He did this all the time when I was little. Now he does it every time I see him.
"How are you, short stuff?" He asks, setting me back onto my feet.
"I'm tired. We just landed not long ago."
"Where's the rest of them? And who's that that dropped you off?" He asks with a teasing smile on his face.
"They'll be here soon, and that was Grayson. My best friend."
"Oooh, best friend, or boyfriend?" He teases.
"Best friend." I laugh, and look towards the doors when my parents and Ashton walk in.
"Hey bub." My dad says, nodding to Uncle Carter. My mom smiles and hugs him, then Ashton does the same.
"Good to see you all. Everyone else is outback." Carter says, leading us to the backyard. I instantly spot my Uncle Austin, and run over to him.
"Rae Rae!" He exclaims, catching me when I jump into his arms. My Aunt Holly laughs next to us.
I spot all of my cousins too, and greet them all. Jared, Liam, Max, Hannah, Sara, Casey, Ashlyn, Jana, and Jay. Then I'm introduced to Carters baby, that I didn't know he had. His name is Gage, and he's eleven months old, with his fiancé Katie. Charlie's wife is pregnant with their first, a girl. Randy and his husband don't have any kids, and are constantly traveling. I guess Randy ended up being a big time gaming Youtuber. Bradley and his ex girlfriend Maya have a daughter named Daisy.
And I think that's all of them. Like I said, there's a shit ton of people in my family.
Ashton and I spend most of our time with Jared, Sara, Liam, Jana, Jay, and Casey, since they're closest to our ages. We've always been close to them, even if we don't live in the same state as them.
As much as I love reuniting with all of my family, I just can't wait to see Grayson. I'm ready to tell him how I feel, and I pray to God that he feels the same way about me.
