"Love is like the wind, you can't see it but you can feel it." — Nicholas Sparks
Song: Heaven by Kane Brown
My eyes wonder around the hospital room, not completely coherent just yet. The doctor explained what happened, but everything is a blur. After leaving Grayson's house, I don't remember anything. The thought of Grayson makes my heart hurt. I remember his rejection clear as day though.
My parents and Ashton came in here a couple of hours ago, trying to explain things to me, but my head hurts too much to really keep that information in. Then the doctor gave me medicine for it, and I fell asleep again.
The door opens, making my head turn in the direction. Grayson peaks his head around the door, his eyes landing on mine. "Raelinn."
"Hi." I whisper, shocked and confused that he's here. He rushes over to me, gently pulling me into a hug.
"God, I am so happy you're okay." He whispers into my ear, then kisses my forehead, and leans his forehead against mine. The next words he speaks, I'm not expecting at all. "I love you, so much, Raelinn Noelle."
"Gray... you don't have to say it because I did, or because of what happened..." I trail off, not able to look him in the eyes.
"Look at me." He demands. My eyes flicker to meet his, and they hold a vulnerable look in them. "I would never say it without meaning it. I should have said it before, but I was so goddamn stupid, that I didn't. And now you're here. But Rae, I seriously do love you. I'm so sorry I didn't say it before. The look on your face when you left killed me, and then... then they said you were dead and I..." he lets out a sob, tears running down his face.
"Baby, I'm right here. I'm fine. I'm okay, Grayson." I murmur, hugging him tightly. "I love you so much."
"I love you too." He tells me, wiping his tears away. "This is a stupid question, but how are you feeling?"
"It's not stupid. I'm sore, but the pain medicine is helping a lot. It just makes me really dizzy and hot." I tell him, kicking my blanket off of me, as best as I can with one good leg. He chuckles and pulls the blanket off of me.
"Could you send my mom in? I need her help with something." I ask him, blushing slightly.
"I can help you." He says, and I smile.
"Thank you, but my mom should probably help. She brought me clothes. I was wanting to put on underwear and shorts under my hospital gown." His eyes widen slightly, and he clears his throat.
"I can get her, but I can still help. I won't look." I open my mouth, then close it again.
"Okay." I decide, realizing it doesn't matter if he sees anything, he's my boyfriend. He walks over to my duffel bag, and pulls out a pair of black booty shorts and blue underwear, like I had asked, and he walks back over to me.
"Ready?" He asks, and I nod. He starts with the underwear, obviously, and pulls it up my legs. He pulls it up as far as he can, then pulls the shorts up as well, and gently lifts my hips, pulling them both up the rest of the way. I groan slightly in pain. "I'm sorry, baby."
I kiss his cheek, after he pulls my gown back down. "I'm just sore baby, you didn't hurt me. Thank you for helping me." I smile at him, and he returns it.
The door to my room opens, and my parents step inside. "My baby!" My mom runs over and hugs me gently, tears streaming down her face.
"Mom, I'm okay." I laugh softly, hiding the pain that it causes.
"I know baby, and I know it's not about me, but I just had this sense of deja vu from the accident with my parents. I'm just so glad you're okay." I smile sadly and wipe her tears away.
"I'm gonna go get something to eat. Does anyone want anything?" Gray offers, standing up from his chair, and letting my dad take it.
"I'm sure Rae would enjoy something other than hospital food." My dad teases, sitting down into the chair Grayson was previously sitting in.
"Yes! They tried to give me like chicken or something earlier, but it was so bland and disgusting, I didn't eat it. I'm starving!" I sigh dramatically, making everyone laugh.
"I'll get you food, love." Gray smiles, kissing my forehead, then walking to the door. "Text me what you guys want." He leaves the room, and my mom turns to look at me, basically now sharing the bed with me.
"He told us what happened before your accident." She says softly.
"I think he blames himself for it." My dad adds in, making me frown. Grayson blames himself for my accident?
"It's not his fault though. I should not have been driving when I was so upset. I don't remember all of it yet, but I know for damn sure it was not his fault."
"Everyone knows that, we just need to make sure he does too." My mom says, running her fingers through my wild hair. "I'm gonna get your hairbrush."
I let out a short burst of laughter, nodding my head. My hair brushed sounds amazing right now. "He told me he loves me. He wanted to say it before, but past relationships and all, or what I'm guessing, he was shocked when I said it first, so he froze up."
"It was about the same way with your mother and I." My dad says with a knowing smile.
"Ain't that the truth." My mom snorts, walking back over to me, and sitting next to me. She slowly starts to brush out the ends of my hair, gently. "But everything worked out, and it will work out with you guys too."
