Ch. 31: The Rise of Electro

A/N: Hey everyone! So sorry this took so long. I meant to put up a note in the last chapter explaining why it would be a bit before this next one but forgot. Sorry! But here it is and everyone best fasten their seatbelts because this one's gonna be big and it's only the beginning.

New York City was officially on a statewide alert after Luke, or as he now calls himself, Electro, announced himself to the world. If you thought the city was in a frenzy after Times Square, that was nothing compared to the shape it was in now. There was nothing but buzz and panic all through the city that never sleeps. They clearly hadn't forgotten what occured that night and frighteningly dreaded the return of the lunatic who had caused it. The insane power he carried, let alone the fact he had defeated two great heroes that night, it all struck fear into the hearts of New Yorkers everywhere. And though it was daytime now, Manhattan was still without its power, still had yet to recover from its blackout. Which, upon its occurrence, had also effected Riker's Island and the Ravencroft Institution. Not only that, but the stock market suffered a huge crash. It appears that Luke could not only manipulate electricity, but also money that was transferred through it. Millions, if not billions, of dollars just up and vanished like magic. Electro truly was a force to be recond with, and was now the cause of an absolute reign of terror.

After Beca gave Chloe a safe escort back to her dorm, she suited up and went out in search for the menace. She expected some type of confrontation from him, but he was nowhere to be found, same as last time. So instead, she spent most of the night rounding up escaped cons and mental patients. As well as, help calm and sort out all the riots and looting that had risen. The cops would've gone after her, but they were too caught up with the same task. Once the Avengers got involed and things started to calm down some, Beca went back home to get some much needed sleep. She had also gotten visits from both Jesse and her father before suiting up. Jesse about the events and her father to make sure she was ok. Beca told Jesse that she would try to find him and gave him the good news about her and Chloe. He gave her a hug, told her how happy and proud he was, and told her to be careful before her father arrived. She assured him she was ok and made sure he and Sheila were too. He wanted her to come home with him, but she needed to stay with Chloe and her friends. He managed to accept that and wished her to be careful. But since she didn't find Luke, she swung by Jesse's and said she would come back once Amy arrived so they could plan their next move. She was supposed to fly in last night, but her flight must have been redirected on account of the airport losing its power. Considering Manhattan's crisis, Beca wasn't even sure if it was possible for her to get in at this time. Thankfully, she got her answer around noon when the Australian walked in.

"Hey! I'm home!" she gladly stated with relief.

"Hey Ames" Beca sighed in relief as she gave her a hug.

"What is going on?" the Aussie asked as she took the hug. "First, my flight changes course. Then, I couldn't call you and I thought I was gonna hafta blast my way back into Manhattan-"

"Just put your stuff down so we can go meet Jesse. I'll explain on the way" Beca stated and Amy moved quick to set everything down.

They headed straight for Jesse's dorm once Fat Amy placed everything down. Most of the students had returned to campus by now, so it was still fairly crowded. Some had evacuated, some were about to, some had gone to another place they could stay, and some had nowhere else to go at the moment and therefore just stayed put. As they walked, Beca informed Amy of Luke's return, quietly so nobody around would hear them, and everything he was causing.

"So, Luke is back, calling himself Electro, and he's causing all this just for revenge?" Fat Amy questioned as they walked through the quad.

"I don't know" Beca shook her head. "Revenge is one thing, but all this is a completely different thing. I think he has another M.O."
