Chapter 19 - Planning for Scamming

"Is Kyle coming?"

"He's on his way. He went to pick up the girls at the airport first."

"Where's Dante?"

"With my mom. We didn't want him to get worried or caught in the crossfire."

"That's smart."

"Can I come in?"

"Yeah, of course. Where are the others?"

"They're on their way too. It wasn't as far of a drive for me as it is for them."

"Okay. You can sit down, if you want."

"Thanks."

"Do you want anything to drink?"

"Water's fine. Thank you."

"Sure."

"How are you doing, by the way?"

"What do you think?"

"I think your girlfriend just got kidnapped by one of your guys' closest friends."

"That pretty much sums it up. Here you go. I put ice in."

"Thanks."

"Sure."

"What do you think is going to happen?"

"I think we're going to have a confrontation. That's the plan, right?"

"We don't have a plan yet."

"Well I'm sure the plan will have to deal with confrontation."

"Yeah."

"What's wrong?"

"Do you want him to go to jail?"

"What?"

"Joey, do you want him to go to jail? We could call the cops. They could take care of it. He would be put away. We have him on three counts of kidnapping."

"No."

"No?"

"No."

"Why?"

"Even though he's doing this and he seems to be the one organizing it all, I can't help but shake the feeling that this isn't all his fault."

"What do you mean?"

"It is so unlike Joey to do this sort of thing. And we're just meant to believe the desire for power over Minecraft and cats are making him do this?"

"I get your point."

"I feel like we're missing something."

Ding-dong.

"That'll be them, won't it?"

"Yep."

"I'll go let them in."

"Joel..."

"Yeah?"

"We're going to figure it out, you know."

"I know, Yammy. Thanks."

"For what?"

"Talking to me."

And he walked away.

"Any minute now, I'm sure. Anxious, Callum?"

"Aren't you, Yammy?"

"Fair enough."
