Life was normal and easy for me. I lived alone, I didn't have any responsibilities, but I was always so bored. Life just wasn't exciting. I had the same routine day after day and it got to the point where I felt like this was all my life was meant to be; a repetitive routine. The only thing that brought me joy anymore was imagining a life with wonders and a life that was full of adventures. Little did I know that my life was about to change.
"We're here now at the scene of the crime, where the body was left." I was watching the news like normal because that's the only way I "get out" nowadays. I was curled up on my couch wearing boy shorts and a white T-shirt. It was a gloomy day, it would rain off and on, but I never really noticed because it only lasted a few minutes.
"The body was found down by the river." Today's news was rather interesting because there has never been any cases of murder in my town. This town is so small that hardly anyone lives here. I live in the middle of nowhere, just surrounded by trees and mountains. Every night when I go to bed, I hear the wolves howling at the moon, sometimes it actually makes me fall asleep faster knowing that I'm not the only one who's wide awake.
"We have no suspects at this time because it is hard to tell what happened." As a picture of the victim popped up on the TV the lady on the news talked about where the injuries were. There were bite marks on the arms and legs on the body of the man. It was hard to tell what bit him, they were deep bite marks and I could even see where the creature had torn the muscle under the skin. It was disturbing to look at and made me think about what happened just last night when I was trying to sleep. I heard muffled growling and snarling, but I was too tired to comprehend what could have made those sounds. Maybe, the man that was murdered was actually attacked last night by wolves. The more I thought about it, the more it made sense. He probably agitated some wolves and their pack didn't like that very much so they did what wolves do; protect the pack.
"The son of a bitch deserved it." I said out loud, knowing no one could hear me. I always loved animals, especially wolves. They're independent and fascinating creatures of the woods. When I was a little girl, I dreamed of what it would be like to be a wolf and roam the vast forest. Every time I told someone about my dreams they would say how insane I was for dreaming such a thing.
"Well that's all for now, back to you at the studio, Jim." After the crime scene was no longer on the TV I decided to get off the couch and look off my balcony. I walked towards the sliding door and opened it, as soon as I did I felt little droplets of rain hit my skin. It wasn't very cold out so it didn't bother me too much. I leaned against the railing and looked over the edge. My apartment was on the 20th floor, which was the very top. I could see the mountains in the distance and I could even see some of the rivers. While I was looking at the scenery I got this feeling that I was being watched. I started to look around and then I saw it...
