Derek calmed down, his hair sinking back into his body, the snout shrinking.  "I told you."  he stuttered, grunting as his teeth sunk back into his normal square teeth.

"I understand." Hazel's face managed to make out a smile.  Derek smirked, sitting down on an old log. "I just didn't want to hurt my princess with my-my um...power...no...monster inside me I suppose."

"It's not a monster, it's a...talent."  Hazel tried to comfort Derek with a soft tone.

"How on earth is it a talent Hazel?"

"Well," Hazel sat beside her friend, "You can kill the bad guys..."

Derek smiled and for once, a kind look appeared in his eyes.  Hazel sunk in sweet bashfulness.  Derek looked at Hazel's clothing with surprise, "Did you make that?"

"Yes."

"Leaves?"

"Yes."

"I like it."

"Thanks."

Hazel examined her leafy dress, touching a big rose with her finger.  " I'm no longer the princess, so what am I?"

"Well, there are lots of things you can be, Hazel.  What do you want to be?"

"A girl, who finds her true love.  I just want to be known by everyone.  And I know that sounds selfish..."

"No it doesn't, when I was 12 I used to imagine I was a prince, the Prince of the valleys."

"Hehe...I like that.  But I just need my true love.  It's my dream."

"Did you wish upon a star?"

"No...I was taught if you wish something on an orange rose, toss it into a pond on a misty day, and the petals separate and don't sink, the wish would come true soon enough."

"That's an interesting way to wish something." Derek's eyebrows went up and he chuckled.

"I know...my parents taught me to do that.  My parents!  Oh I wonder what they are doing this very moment!"

"I'm sure they are worried that their little girl is missing."

Hazel looked, her shoulders lowering.  She nodded slightly and got up.  "You know who I want to be?"

"Who?" Derek instituted.

"I want to be...a new princess, who is one with nature, and who lives for love."
