"Oh goodness! By the way, you can call me Gernis." the woman said, pulling her bland brown braid to the side. "Goodbye. Call me if you need anything."
"Wait!" Hazel quickly replied, trying to get Gernis's attention with a loud answer. "My name is Hazel."
Normally she would call herself Princess Hazel, but she listened to her brain and decided it was best if they didn't know she was a princess. Gernis nodded and swiftly swept out of the room. Hazel glanced down at her tray, suddenly quite lonely. The bread was gone and she had used up half of her butter. The hot cocoa was drank down but brown stains of chocolate shimmered at the bottom. Hazel thought it was smart to eat most of her fruit, it would give her the most energy and health. Now that the hot cocoa was gone, it was warming her stomach, relaxing her inside. She pulled the grand covers up to her neck and got comfortable. Hazel, if she were to take a nap, wanted to turn off the lights hanging incredibly from the ceiling. She thought about calling Gernis back ,but after years of being a princess, she didn't think it was polite to call servants more than once every 30 minutes. So, she sank into the bed and breathed softly. Her breath was slow and warm coming from her nose. She was relieved that she had fresh air finally to take breaths in.
A young man dressed in white with a navy blue tie entered the room this time, his arms swaying blissfully.
"Good evening malady." he smiled, his eyes kindly looking into hers. "I'm Eldon, the king's assistant. Well, I'm actually his um, servant." he didn't seem really pleased to be confessing that.
Hazel blinked her eyes in understanding and turned her head to face his. She didn't notice how surprisingly close he was so she squealed with surprise and shifted her body away.
"Oh you must forgive me...so sorry." he gasped, taking her hand and richly showed his dashing dimples.
"Oh, it's truly alright. Thank you." She pulled away her hand out of Eldon's grip and buried it under the covers.
"Well, I've heard you've been found in the Forest of King Harrison, Eh?"
Hazel shamefully nodded.
"Why were you there, please?" Eldon questioned.
"Well, Derek and I, Derek is my closest friend, were looking for a home and I, who was foolish at the time, led him in. He left me and I passed out." Hazel explained clearly, doing her best to make sure her voice wasn't scratchy.
"Oh okay, I'll speak with the King now. Goodbye." Eldon wandered out of the room.
Hazel, who didn't get a chance to say bye, slipped out of her bed and turned off the light herself.
