The knife met flesh, sinking deep enough to make its victim cry in pain. He jerked his head upward and clutched onto his stomach, making me feel a pang of guilt. The shiny metal disappeared inside of him, fresh blood beginning to appear through the tear in his white shirt.

And then disappear.

I pulled the blade out. The look of anguish on his face was immediately replaced with a smug smirk.

"I- i don't understand..." i stuttered.

Dumbfounded, I flung the knife towards him again.

This time, however, he caught my wrist, clutching it so tightly that my grip on the handle loosened and he effortlessly pulled it away from my grasp.

"That won't work on me, sweetheart." he whispered, caressing my neck with the tip of his fingers.

There was a hint of something frightening in the calmness of his voice. A mixture of impatience, longing...

Lust.

Stranger things were beginning to happen and he may as well have been the cause of them.

If i wasn't mistaken, his overwhelming emotions were sending tremors not only through my body, but also through the ground.

One by one, the lightbulbs in the room exploded with a loud pop, allowing darkness to engulf the room.

The man in front of me now resembled a shadow, apart from his eyes, which were still gleaming brightly. He leaned in slowly, his chest pressing against mine and his mouth widening as it lingered over the surface of my neck. Goosebumps formed all over my body as soon as i felt the tip of his teeth touch my skin, and that's when it happened.

Something strong collided with the man in front of me with such force that it sent him flying into a wall with a violent crash.

"Hyung, what the hell?" he growled.

"You shouldn't be here Taehyung," an unfamiliar voice snarled, a mixture of rage and disappointment in their tone, "I warned you, didn't i?"

So his name is Taehyung...

"I'm tired of living in that hell hole," he replied, getting to his feet, "This is my only chance at freedom. Let me have it."

"You know I can't do that."

TAEHYUNG'S POV

Loneliness was my most dependable company. Whilst everyone else was still asleep, i sat outside and treated myself to a drink as i admired the beautiful colors of the sunset that would soon fade to black. I closed my eyes, allowing myself to get lost in another daydream.

Until i was startled by the voice of a young woman.

"What's that you're drinking?"

Huh? Is she serious?

When i turned to face her, i noticed it. I noticed how out of place she was; from the little pout of her lips, the innocence in her eyes, the kind of clothing she wore, the way she kept fidgeting with her fingers, to the sound of her heart, beating faster than bullets could fly.

She's afraid of me.

Why was she afraid? There was no reason for her to be.

Unless...

But that would make no sense. The reason why i hadn't sensed her presence in the first place was because of her scent... it wasn't human.

"...pomegranate juice," i replied, half expecting a sarcastic response in return. Surely she was just joking around...

"That's not what it smells like..." she responded nervously.

No... she was definitely a mortal.

The fear in her voice was something i hadn't heard in a long time. And it felt good. So good.

Oh I could get used to this again.

I observed her from head to toe and a devillish smirk spread across my face.

"What do you assume it is, angel?"

I could tell she was too afraid to say anything. The sound of her blood pumping inside her veins filled my ears. It set my heart on fire and made my stomach growl as if it had been starving for centuries. I felt a powerful desire to make her submit to me, to sink my teeth into her beautiful, soft skin, to taste every single bit of goodness inside of her.

I would get in a lot of trouble for doing so, but she was the one to blame. After all, she was a mouse that walked straight into the lion's den.

"Don't do it Taehyung," Yoongi hyung would say, "control yourself."

What have I got to lose, hyung?

"The last bit of sanity you have left," was what he would probably say.

My heart was so desperate to rebel, but my mind told me otherwise. He was right. One wrong move, and everything would be over. Thus, suppressing my emotions before they carried me away, I vanished from her sight.

But alas, my extreme longing for human blood had been triggered and made sure that we would cross paths again.

MISAKI'S POV

I had no idea what was going on, nor did i care. All i wanted to do right now was get away from these crazy people.

I didn't hear the rest of the conversation. I was running, as fast as my feet would carry me, without a particular destination in mind.

I guess i'm always running away from my problems.

Soon enough, i heard footsteps not too far behind.

Shit. Why won't he leave me alone?

I couldn't go to my apartment. The last thing i needed was for him to know where i lived. What i needed was a public area with lots of people. However, i didn't even have the slightest idea of where i was at the moment.

I turned a corner and tripped over something heavy on the ground.

"Ouch!" I yelped in pain, rubbing the area below my knee.

I caught a glimpse of the source of my pain, and to my horror, it was a face i knew too well.

There lay the lifeless figure of my boss, drenched in dried blood and covered with bite marks in all the places of his body that were exposed.

My legs went stiff as a sickening realization hit me.

I'm next.

I'm next
