"Misaki... are you a virgin?"

...

Huh?

I twiddled my teacup between my fingers as my brain scrambled to comprehend the question that had just been thrown at me.

Self-consciousness was beginning to swell through my body like a disease. All sorts of questions began to circulate my mind. Was my lack of sexual experience normal for a twenty-two year old? Or was it something to be ashamed of? The idea had never occurred to me so, needless to say, I had never given it much thought.

That is, until now.

I glanced around nervously, hoping for no signs of attentive ears.

"You're surrounded by vampires, Misaki," I reminded myself.

Who knows what they might be listening to.

The corner of Taehyung's lips curled upwards to display that characteristic, devilish smirk of his that had never once failed to incapacitate me. He placed his empty cup beside his plate and refilled it with blood.

It made me exasperated that not a hint of regret was visible on his face. It was as though it was completely acceptable for him to delve into my personal matters, despite not knowing the first thing about me.

On the contrary, I would expect nothing less from a person such as him. A creature that must have ascended from hell, lacking any form of feeling or empathy, fixated only on who to mark as his next target. His next feast.

The man continued to observe me from the opposite end of the table with a look full of persistence.

"I'm sorry- what?" I stared at him, flabbergasted, as I struggled to formulate a response. "No- that's- that's none of your business."

His smile grew wider.

"I'll take that as a yes."

I gaped at the sheer audacity of his words.

Unbelievable... why can't he just let it go?

"Excuse me? You should know better than to ask a person such an intimate question when you haven't known them for longer than five days."

"And within the span of five days, I was able to unfold so much about you. More than you would be willing to divulge. What I said wasn't a question. It was more like... a confirmation."

"But-" I could feel the heat from my cheeks flow rapidly to my ears. "But you're wrong-"

"Don't deny it. Not when your body has already confessed the truth."

That's when I realized there was no point in arguing. Not when the man in front of me was such a skilled lie detector.

I slouched in my seat. There was nothing more I wanted than the earth to swallow me up. At least before the embarrassment did.

Fuck him and his stupid superpowers.

"I think it's ridiculous that you're judging the validity of my answer based entirely on my heart rate." I snapped as he sipped on his drink.

"And also downright creepy," I added under my breath.

"Oh angel," he leaned forward in his chair, "do you really think I need to hear that pretty pitter patter inside your chest to know that you're lying straight through your teeth? Please, anyone can tell that you haven't lost a single ounce of the purity that runs through your veins."
