CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO,
there would always be more.
"Now, we're gonna work this out right now, and it's going to go our way." The lady said. Aiden looked around the wood line for people.
"Grab him." Rick hissed. Daryl and Glenn heaved the man up, Aiden bunched his shirt in her fist and aimed her Beretta at the back of his head. "You can see we have one of yours. We'll trade. But the woman you see right now with her gun pressed against your guys head? She will not hesitate to kill him."
"I'm listening."
"First I want to talk to Maggie and Carol, make sure they're alright."
"Rick, it's Carol. I'm- I'm fine, but-" Carol's voice was cut off before they heard Maggie's voice, "Rick, it's Maggie. We're both okay. We'll figure thi-" Maggie was cut off too. "You have your proof. Let's talk."
"This is the deal right here. Let 'em go, you can have your guy back and live." Rick said into the walkie.
"Two for one, that's not much of a trade." The woman said.
"Let me see the walkie, Rick." Aiden snatched the radio from Rick's hand.
"You don't have another choice, bitch, or you would've done something about it already." Aiden growled into the radio. "Let's see how long we can play this little game."
She handed it back to Rick. "Look, I know you're talking it over. It's a fair trade. Just come out, we do this, we all walk away. Do we have a deal?"
"I'll get back to you." She said.

After a couple hours, the group pulled up to the other compound Carol and Maggie were supposedly being held at.
They pulled the door open and saw Maggie and Carol.
"Maggie." Glenn breathed out before pulling his wife until a hug.
"You okay? We got your trail? You start a fire?" Daryl asked Carol. "Hey, you good?"
"No." She replied.
"Come here." Daryl hugged the woman.
"They're dead. They're all dead. The ones who took us. They're dead." Maggie informed them all. Xavier and Aiden stood together as they watched Maggie's eyes slowly water with tears.
"Your friends are dead. No one's coming for ya. So you might as well talk." Rick said to the man they had for the trade.
"Let 'em burn." Daryl spoke.
"I'm gonna ask you one last time... how'd you get the bike?" Rick asked the man.
"We found it."
"Like hell you did." Daryl harshly said.
"We found it." He repeated.
"Was Negan in the building last night or was he here?" Rick asked. The man looked at Rick.
"Both. I'm Negan, shithead. There's a whole world of fun that we can talk about, so let's have a chat." The man said.
