*Londyn POV*
“You’re not going to kill me are you?” I said from the passenger seat.
“No” Calum laughed “Will you relax, we’re almost there”
“Easy for you to say…” I stared out the window, civilization fading further away with every mile.
When I agreed to this date, I had no idea that this would turn into some kind of surprise kidnapping. I wasn’t worried until we ended up miles from town on some dark secluded road.
“We’re here, and you’re not dead. Do you trust me now?” Calum said as he pulled the car to a stop.
“I suppose” I got out of the car “You got food in that bag?” I said making him laugh.
“Yes, I do” he laughed, removing the mystery bag from the trunk of his car, leading me to a clearing just behind some trees. “Stay right there” he stopped just before the trees, leaving the bag of food at my feet heading into the brush.
“Hmm…” I got curious. What could this man be up to? I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit surprised at what I walked things were finally ready.
Calum had set up a nice pallet with a perfect view of the night sky. I’m almost ashamed to admit it but, I never would have pegged him as the “romantic” type, I know now why they say to never judge a book by it’s cover. My initial impression of him was quiet but knowing, I maybe should have known then that he would be a thoughtful person. In any case I was impressed by this simple yet intimate gesture.
“How did you ever find this place?” I asked in shock as he led me to the pallet.
“Actually, it was Ashton that told me. He stumbled across it on a run of his” he opened the bag of treats.
“Remind me to thank him” I smile. “This is gorgeous” I looked up at the stars.
“And me Addy. I’d never would’ve had the time to do any of this without her keeping Ashton occupied” he hands me a bag of sour gummy worms.
“You guys are really close huh?”
“Yeah, I guess you could say we’re like brothers”
“I can tell with the way you’re so protective of him”
“Oh, believe me, he can more than handle himself” he chuckled. “So…” he handed me a bottle of Lychee Capico “Since we’re talking about best friends, what’s the story on you and yours?” he sipped on his bottle.
“Well…” I took a bite out of a worm “We met in middle school and the rest is kind of history” I chuckled.
“Like kindergarten?”
“Like kindergarten” I laughed, sipping on my drink “And what about you?” I asked.
“Oh” he started “Me and Ash? We’ve…” I cut him off.
“I mean, what’s the story on you” I laid back on the pallet, staring up at the stars.
“Me?” he looked down at me “There’s really not much to say…I’m just your regular old guy” he sighed
“Mmmhmm” I said skeptically
“You don’t believe me?” he said feigning shock
“I mean there’s got to be something, what makes you tick, what gets Calum Hood going everyday?”
“Well, other than coffee” he laughed “I love my dog and my family and friends. I just want to do good in this messed up world” he joined me on his back.
“Amen to that brother” I sighed “This is amazing” I said taking in the celestial light show above me.
“It’s absolutely perfect” he sighed.
“Hey Cal?”
“Yeah”
“I trust you”
“I knew you would” he smiled.
