EVANGELINE

Beckett rubbed soothing circles along my arm and leaned over to kiss my temple, sighing in content. "I guess we'll have to take that tour some time tomorrow, huh?" His brown eyes shined with mischief, and I laughed.

"That'll be fine." I paused, contemplating on if I should tell him the conclusion I had come to. "Beckett?"

"Hm?"

"I know I've been somewhat difficult-"

"Somewhat?"

I gave him a playful death glare, tweaking his ear just a bit. "Let me talk. Anyway, I've been difficult and I know it hasn't been easy for you, but I want you to know that I'm ready to try...I'm ready to give this a shot."

He sat up and gazed down at me. "Are you serious?"

"I am. I'm myself with you, and I've missed that."

Beckett beamed from ear to ear as he gathered me in his arms and bear hugged me. "Thank you, Angel, I promise you won't regret it!" He gave me a huge kiss, cupping my little cheeks in his enormous hands. "I'll make you so happy!" I smiled and rested my forehead against his.

"I'm happy now."

"Then you'll stay happy," he concluded, pecking my cheek with a quick kiss. "I do have to go to the office again tomorrow morning though."

"You mean this morning."

He turned and looked at the clock, sighing. "This morning."

"We can take a nap when you get back and then go out for that tour you promised me after." He nodded in agreement and we fell asleep in each other's arms.

When I awoke, I was alone in bed, but I felt satisfied. I sat up and stretched, groaning at the stiffness of my muscles. I felt a little guilty for keeping Beckett up so late, but neither one of us was complaining, so I suppose it wasn't too bad. I mean, we did say that we weren't planning on getting much sleep and we really didn't...well, he didn't. Yeah, I felt bad. I threw back the covers and made my way to the kitchen for some brunch since it was almost noon. I took out the leftover Chinese food and heated it up, my mouth watering at the delicious smell that filled the kitchen. While I ate, I looked at the painting I had done the day before and smiled. It really wasn't bad. My thoughts wondered to my conversation with Beckett in between rounds last night.
