The world has changed for the worse. At first, it seems that some women in a small town started getting sick. Then following days, the virus continues to spread rapidly only affecting females. Ever since they have become extinct. If you were luckily immune by the virus, you'd be better off dead. After all, it was now a man's world.

Survival of the Fittest
The world was now a scarier place than it used to be. Electricity no longer functions and many houses were deserted and damaged by looters. However, the alarming condition took a turn for the worse when an unknown virus started killing almost all of the female population.
A year ago marked the anniversary of the outbreak in Charleston. At first, it seemed like the unknown virus was only targeting seniors and middle-aged women. Then as days continued, the age of those affected started to lower. Immediately, the government announced to the public that there will be a curfew in effect for all females. But even then, precautions were futile. Many more still died.
The scientific field at first ruled out the possibility of a correlation between the gynecological health and abnormalities of any irregular biological characteristic. There was insufficient information particularly to victims who were virgins still passed away. There was also no evidence that an individual could transmit the disease from direct contact or indirect contact. At this point, time became critical, and finding a treatment or a cure was given a high priority by the World Health Organization. Top medical researchers who studied its structure expressed their dismay on the virus. Back in the early, thirteen hundred, the deadly Bubonic Plague killed at least twenty-five million people, but never have they seen a disease mutate very rapidly and only infect one gender.
Kota still remembered the memory vividly, the day he mourned his mother and sister's death. He never would have seen it coming because they both appeared to be healthy. However, just like the others, the disease was gradually killing them internally. Symptoms of extreme fatigue, irrational anger were amongst the most common signs. Unfortunately, the last phase of the disease was inevitable death. Kota felt that he was fortunate to have his brothers. They all comforted each other as they buried Erica Lee, a loving mother who treated each of the boys like her own and Jessica Lee, a little sister they wished they had. When the last soil was scattered on the buried ground and the last flower was thrown, they all stood dejectedly as they felt a piece of them taken away.
A few months ago, rumours started circulating that there was a possibility some females were still alive. Many of them chose to hide in isolated areas in the woods and became vigilant from the forceful men. Although, some weren't so lucky. Like the one teen who managed to escape from a group of men. Unfortunately, she committed suicide due to the psychological trauma that she experienced.
Walking silently on the empty road, I gasp horrified at the sight in front of us. Not too long after, I hear Gabriel behind me who quickly moved to a nearby bush to vomit. Manage to force down the bile that clawed on my throat, I grimace at the unpleasant feeling. It was sickening that the woman was stabbed on the chest. However, that wasn't the worst part that made us feel sick to our stomach. Those men even had the audacity to sexually assault her, leaving the dead women passed out on her drenching blood in the middle of the road. Mr. Blackbourne clears his throat, our attention leaving away from the woman.
"I believe its best if we walk through this forest. That way, we won't encounter anyone," Everyone nods in agreement myself included, speechless with rage.
Trudging for a few miles, the only sound was the leaves rustling, and the fog surfacing ahead of us gave me an eerie feeling. When Mr. Blackbourne saw that we were far away from prying eyes, he announces that we would stay in the forest and rest for the night. Setting down my backpack, goosebumps start to rise on my skin. It was the first time that we were camping in the woods. There were endless possibilities of bears and wolves attacking us while we sleep. Groups could also assault us, resulting in forfeiture of our foods and supplies and even some men were desperate to satisfy their needs by forcing themselves on other men.
