Everything happens for a reason which meant that Rachael had a reason to suddenly wanting to get involved with the Royals.

Rachael wasn't one of those wannabe popular kids although that is what she's being right now. She wasn't making it obvious though unlike some people in the school. She wanted to make it seem as if she was invited to hang out with the Royals and not like she forced her way in. Otherwise unpleasant rumours would spread about her being desperate for attention.

She was doing this for justice. No one likes the system in the school but everyone is just too afraid to speak up. The Royals have tremendous power. They could get anyone to leave school even without a valid reason. They could ruin your family's fortune or make sure that you wouldn't be able to go to college or even get a job when you leave Damington.

They were cruel. They had no morals. They were heartless.

Revenge. She was doing this for vengeance. Vengeance for her best friend. Callie Matthews.

Callie Matthews is the forgotten girl. No one says her name anymore. If you mentioned her name it would take a while for people to remember. It happens to anyone who stops attending Damington Prep. Forgotten like sand being swept away by the wind. Except Callie Matthews didn't stop attending Damington. She was murdered by one of them but they deserved to pay the price.

Rachael had lost her only friend and now she had no one. No one to gossip with, no one to have deep talks with, no one to go on shopping trips with. She was lonely. She felt like a part of her was missing. She felt as though by taking down the Royals, Callie could rest her soul. Rachael would feel alive again.

Everyone at school doesn't know that Callie was murdered. It was said that she had just gone missing but no one cared about a missing girl. Maybe for part of the summer but when there were no leads everyone soon forgot about her but not Rachael. She would never forget her best friend.

"Rachael? Rachael?" Rachael came back to reality as her lab partner whispered her name.

"Sorry, I was just daydreaming," she told Mason. She nodded her head slowly before saying something else.

"You know who else does that a lot?"

"Who?" Rachael asked intrigued.

"Reuben. He's always daydreaming in class. You two should start a daydreaming club," she laughed a little and Rachael laughed alongside her.

"I mean daydreaming lets our mind escape from things that may worry us. Well, I guess that depends what you're daydreaming about," The girl explained.

"I guess that's kind of true," Mason pondered on what the girl told her and smiled a bit. "If you're daydreaming a lot it probably means you're under quite some stress."

Rachael made a confused face as she talked. She was under some stress she didn't think that Mason would come to that sort of conclusion.

"I know that look. I may be pretty but I'm not dumb," Mason said.

"Oh, I didn't mean it like that," she could not anger a Royal at this point. It would ruin her plans.

"I'm only joking. You need to loosen up then," Rachael laughed nervously whilst playing with her necklace.

"Maybe I do," she contemplated.

"Well, how about coming to the back to school bash at Michelle Branningstar's place that's held every year?" She asked the girl who was beaming so much in her head.

The back to school bash was an event that about almost half the school gets invited to plus some people from other schools. It was held every year on the first Friday back at school to mark the beginning of the new school year. It was one of the most looked forward to events in the school year.

Rachael had never been invited to the party so of course she was excited to be invited. Although, to be invited by a Royal is an accomplishment. This was a good sign for Rachael. It wasn't uncommon for anyone to be invited by a Royal as the event isn't that exclusive but it was still something to be proud of.

'I shouldn't be too excited though. It doesn't mean much.'

"Sure. I'd love to come," Rachael replied as calmly as she could.

Mason smiled and gestured for Rachael to hand over her phone. She gave Mason her phone and Mason entered in her number on her phone. Rachael was surprised that she was giving away her contact details so easily to her. Mason looked up and smiled.

"We're lab partners so we might need to ask each other for help or the work if one of us isn't in," she said and Rachael's hopes dropped.

She thought for a god second that she would say that they could be friends but the Royals like to keep their social circle tight knitted.

The bell rang and everyone started packing up their things including Rachael. She picked up her phone from the table and placed it back into her bag.

"I'll also text you the address of Michelle's place," she said to Rachael.

"Thanks," she said back as Mason walked away.

Rachael felt like some sort of progress was made in the lesson. She could find a way into the group by attending the party. She smiled as she left the classroom and made her way to her next class.

The girl started to look at her phone and checked her socials without looking at where she was going. She soon bumped into someone and heard a loud shriek.

"Look at where you're going," a girl spoke and looked up to see who was talking.

Michelle Branningstar.

"I'm sorry," she apologised. Michelle had a distasteful look on her face as she got a closer look at Rachael's face.

"Urgh. You better be sorry," she threatened as she started walking away.

"Drama queen," Rachael muttered under her breath but was loud enough for Michelle to hear.

"Excuse me?" She turned on her heel and walked closer to Rachael glaring at her.

Rachael would be lying if she said wasn't a bit intimidated but she tried to not let it show. Michelle Branningstar was about an inch taller than her and Rachael was 5'8 but it wasn't the height that was intimidating. It was her presence.

Michelle Branningstar practically ruled the school. She was the Queen and the students were her subjects except for her group. She had wavy long golden blonde hair and emerald green eyes. She was perfect in the eyes of her subjects even though having a foul personality.

"There's no need to be so upset over it. I just bumped into you. It happens," Rachael said back to her which rounded a small audience together.

"But it could've easily been avoided if you weren't paying so much attention to that phone of yours," she retaliated.

Rachael didn't want to start an argument with Michelle because if she did Michelle will make her life difficult and it would be hard for her to get closer to the Royals.

"Look, I don't want drama but all I'm saying is that it's not a big deal and that I'm sorry," Rachael said in an attempt to calm her down.

Michelle scoffed before rolling her eyes and walking away from the brown-haired girl. The small crowd soon dispersed a bit disappointed that it didn't turn into a big argument as they hoped.

'The people in this school live for drama.'

Rachael mentally rolled her eyes before continuing to her next lesson.
