In the morning, Nagisa was woken up by her maid. The maid helped her get dressed in a knee-length green dress with pink frills. Her hair was tied into two braids that looped under her ears. Once she was done getting dressed, Karma walked into her room. He smiled at her and pulled her close.
"You look beautiful," he said, looking into her eyes, "Do you want some help changing your bandages?"
"Thanks. And, yeah, it would help me a lot actually," she replied looking back at him.
He brought her to the connected bathroom and sat her on the counter, standing in between her legs. He took the scissors and cut off one of the old bandages and replaced it with new gauze. After today, she would not need it anymore. He continued changing her bandages. Once he was finished, he helped her down off the counter and threw away the dirty gauze. She held his hand as they walk to breakfast. Before they entered the room, they separated. They knew they could not let anyone know about their relationship until the last night. They walked in and acted like they had met each other in the hallway. They sat separately, to avoid being suspected.
Once breakfast was finished, it was announced that they would be going into town for the day to do anything they wanted. Everyone walked the short distance to the village and split up. Nagisa was pulled around by people and Karma felt a little jealous. He watched as she played with some of the children. They were sitting in the middle of the square and a pink-haired girl was making Nagisa a flower crown with her friends. The little group was laughing and talking. Karma watched in amusement at the girl he loved playing with the little kids. He fell for her even more at the scene. He loved how she looked when she was happy. He decided he would get her a present. He looked around all day for the right shop. He saw Nagisa walking around with nobles and princes throughout the day, but she never looked genuinely happy like with those children earlier. She was wearing the flower crown the kids made her when they finally had their chance to be alone together.
"Hey, Karma, I feel bad we didn't have a lot of time together today,' she said, sounding disappointed.
"I understand, but we cannot let anyone know until the final night of this party," he replied.
"I guess. Why can't we just tell everyone now?" she complained and Karma smiled at her.
"I don't want to give your mother another reason to hurt you," he said, kissing Nagisa on the cheek before handing her a square box.
Nagisa's eyes widened as she opened the box. Inside was a coil bracelet that wrapped around her arm. It was decorated in sapphires and was in the shape of a snake. She smiled and hugged Karma tightly.
"Thank you. It's lovely," she said into his chest.
Karma just chuckled and held the girl before putting the bracelet on her wrist. She got on her toes and gave him a quick kiss. He stood, shocked at the sudden affection from the girl, but smiled before taking her hand and leading her to a restaurant to eat dinner.
Karma sat across from Nagisa at a table and they were happily eating and talking to each other. They did not talk about anything in particular, but just enjoyed each other's company. After dinner, they walked back to the palace.
Once they entered Nagisa's room, Karma kissed her. It was a chaste kiss, but Nagisa melted into it nevertheless. She thought about the boy who cared for her so deeply.
They were laying on the bed and Karma was stroking her hair gently. She loved being close to the boy. His presence comforted her. He was like her rock. She had never felt so happy in her entire life.
"Karma?" he stopped stroking her hair when she looked up to him.
"Hm?" he responded.
"Are you really doing this because you love me or are you doing this so I don't have to marry Asano?"
"What? Of course, I love you, Nagisa. You are important to me and now that I have you, I am never letting you go. But also because I don't want you to marry that guy."
"Hehe. Thanks." she buried her face in his chest after she giggled and Karma pulled her closer before resting his head on top of hers.
They fell asleep in Nagisa's bed. When Nagisa woke up in the morning, Karma was right beside her, slowly running his fingers through her hair. She saw that he was awake and staring at her. She looked up and kissed him and he returned it before speaking.
"Nagisa, I have to get back to my room. I did not want to leave until you woke up, though. Your maid has not come yet, but she will soon. If we don't want anyone catching on to us, I have to leave," he said before kissing her again.
"That's okay. I will see you at breakfast, then, even though we can't sit near each other," she replied, before closing her eyes again.
Karma slipped out of the room and got dressed there. The next two days went by smoothly. Karma and Nagisa would always meet up whenever they could and Karma would always go to Nagisa's room after everyone was asleep and leave before they wake up. Before he left, he always made sure to wake her up, so she knew he was leaving.
A/N: I know that this is not my normal update day, but since all of the schools in my state are closed, I have plenty of free time. So, while you all lock yourselves in your houses, enjoy the next chapter. I know it's not as long as the others, but I am trying to make the story as long as possible. Remember, wash your hands and don't touch your face. Stay safe everyone. Have a nice day!
