The next day, people were rushing around, getting things set up for the ball. The ball would be held in the larger ballroom, not the throne room. They had used the throne room because it was the first night and all of the guests had not all arrived yet. The ballroom was being used because it was the last night, and everyone was invited.
Nagisa was being pushed around by all of the servants for dress fittings or opinions on decorations. Karma and Nagisa did not have time to be alone together for the entire day. A few hours before the ball, Nagisa was taken away by her maid to start getting ready for the ball.
Once Nagisa entered her room, she was handed the dress that Karma had picked out. Once she put it on, she realized that it was comfortable. It was flowing and less stiff than the ones her mother always had her wear. The dress flowed off her waist like water and the fabric moved when she moved.
Her hair was being curled and a few strands of air were tied in the back. It was the first time she would ever go to an event with her hair down like that. Once her maid left after doing her makeup, she slipped on her gloves and something caught her eye. On the desk sat a box. She opened the box and found the bracelet that Karma had given her on the third day. She slipped the coil bracelet onto her arm, the sapphires reflecting light around the room. The snake bracelet went about half-way to her elbow and it matched the dress she was wearing. Once she was finished, Karma walked into the room and looked at her.
"It looks great on you, Nagisa," he said.
"Thanks. What's that you have?" she said motioning towards a box he was holding.
He smiled gently and walked over to her, handing her the box. She opened it gently and inside was a sapphire pendant on a silver chain. She looked at Karma and hugged him happily.
"I'm glad you like it. Do you want me to help you put it on?" he asked.
She nodded and he took the box from her. He unclipped the chain and wrapped it around the front of her neck. He gently reclasped the necklace and let it fall into place around her neck. He then hugged her from behind and she leaned into it.
"I see you are wearing your bracelet," Karma observed.
"Yeah, I almost forgot about it. I saw it sitting in the box on my desk and I decided to see what it looked like with the dress. Thank you for all of the gifts."
"There's no need to thank me, Nagisa. I am just giving the woman I love presents."
He let her go and she turned around to kiss him.
"We should go down. We will all be introduced soon, all of the guests have arrived," Karma said once they parted.
"Then let's go."
They walked out of Nagisa's room and towards the ballroom. Everyone that was invited as a guest for the whole week was already standing behind the ballroom doors. They joined the group of people to wait for their names to be called. The first few people were adults whose names, Nagisa did not even recognize. Once those people had been introduced, the names she recognized were called. Toko Yada, Tomohito Sugino, Yukiko Kanzaki, Taiga Okajima, Itona Horibe, Princess Kaede Kayano, Princess Rio Nakamura, Prince Maehara, Princes Karma Akabane, Prince Teppei Araki, Prince Natsuhiko Koyama, Prince Tomoya Seo, Prince Ren Sakakibara, she tensed when she heard that name, he was the one who touched her, and finally Prince Gakushu Asano.
"Princess Nagisa Shiota," the monotone voiced droned.
The doors were opened for her and a flood of people stood in the ballroom. She immediately got nervous, but pushed it away and looked at Karma. She slowly walked down the stairs to where all of the boys were standing. Once she did, the queen spoke up.
