Chapter 7: First Task and a few burns

Rose Prov

I walked to the stands with Hermione and Ginny. Everyone was headed down to where the first task was due to take place. We went to the nearly full stands and tried to find a seat. "Bets! Bets taken here!" I heard two voices yell. I looked behind me and there were the twins getting people to pay money on who they thought would be the best. They saw me and started to walk over. "Hey Rose, want to take a bet?" George asked me. I looked at the numbers and they stood as Cedric 123 Fleur 120 Krum 125 and lastly Harry 10. "This is so rude. Do you know that?" I asked. "It might but we are making money for our products." Fred said. "So, are you taking a bet?" George asked with a smirk. I dug in my pocket. I had ten sickles. "Here I bet on Ced and Harry." "You can't bet on two!" George moaned dramatically. "Well then don't take my money." I said and turned away. "Not so fast!" George said and grabbed the money out my hand and wrote my name down. "Thank you, boys." I sang with a smile and skipped off to Hermione and Ginny. "I can't believe you took a bet." Hermione said with a roll of her eyes. "Not just one bet I took two." I said with a smirk. "How did you mange that? When I tried the boys told me to bugger off." Ginny said with a pout. "Really you bet too!" Hermione complained. "I just have skill. And Monie just because you don't like to bet does not mean people don't bet." I said with a wink and looked over at the arena.

 We sat there for a while until Dumbledore walked out and addressed the crowd. "Boys and girls, we ask that you all remain seated in this challenge and you do not fear or panic. Now on to more exciting matters first to go will be Cedric Diggory." I looked down into the arena and there in the arena they were bringing in the first Dragon. It was a green colour and stood looking fierce. It had a nest of eggs but one stood out the golden egg in the middle of it. "Now at the sound of the canon the challenge will begin. "You know if the bets go anyway your eye colour has turned you will lose Rose." Fred said as he sat down next to me. I looked at him in confusion and then realised my eyes must have gone a pale white colour. I tried to think of calming thoughts, and I watched as Fred watched my eyes change again. "Hey Rose, have you ever had two colours at once?" He asked me still looking at my eyes. "Umm, not that I know of." Ginny leant forward and looked at my eyes. "Rose that is so cool. I didn't know you could do that." "What are you guys talking about?" I asked looking at them. Ginny opened her bag and took out a mirror. I took at it and looked at my eyes. "Oh my gosh, what is going on?!" I had never seen this before. My eyes looked like they had been split down the middle. The right side was light blue, and the left was white. "I have never seen my eyes do that." I said shocked. "Well it's wicked." Fred said with a smile. I turned my head away from his view because I could feel my cheeks heating up. Before anymore was said we heard the cannon go off and I jumped in my seat. "Wow Rose are you alright?" Fred asked looking at me in concern. "Umm, yes I am just worried. That's all." I said quietly. "Hey, don't be Cedric and everyone will be just great. Just like I said last night" He said while putting an arm around me. I smiled at him and then looked down to see Cedric moving from the dragon's flames. We could feel the heat from here. I hoped Cedric would be okay. After a few spells Cedric managed to get the golden egg. Everyone cheered and soon it was just Harry left to go. As they were bringing the dragon out, I watched Charlie and the other dragon trainers fight with the Horn tail.

 We watched as they tried to stun the beast, but it just used its weight against them. Suddenly I was pulled down as flames came in our direction. I looked at Fred and saw he was covering me from the flames. We sat up again. "Rose are you alright?" Fred asked as he put his hand to my cheek. I flinched away. My cheek was really sore from where he touched it. "Rose we need to take you to the hospital wing. Your cheek is burnt a bit." Fred said. I could feel the pain in my cheek and it really did hurt. "Come on let's take you." I nodded. "Rose, do you want me to come with you?" "No Gin. Don't worry, stay and watch Harry." I tried to smile but my cheek hurt that I couldn't quiet mange it. Fred grabbed my hand and led me through the crowd. We walked all the way to the hospital wing. I was feeling a bit lightheaded and my face was really sore. As we got to the steps of the hospital wing, I felt my balance go funny. I tried to grab onto the staircase railing, but I missed and felt myself falling. Fred caught hold of my arm and held me up right. He pulled me closer and picked me up. "It's okay Fred I just lost my balance." "It's okay we are nearly there." As we entered the hospital Cedric was sitting on one of the beds and Madam Pomfrey attending to him. "Bloody hell! Rose are you okay?" He said as he got up and ran over to Fred and I. "She was caught in the flames. I tried to pull her down as they came our way, but it just got her." Cedric looked at my face. "Oh, my Rose, what are we going to do with you?" "Oh, my dear Miss Holmes, I do hope that you coming to the hospital like this with Mr Weasley is not going to become a regular thing, this is the second time this year! Quick put her here." Madam Pomfrey said, with a sigh. Fred walked over and put me down on the bed. He then stood back next to Cedric. "You were every lucky. There won't be any scars, but this is going to hurt." Madam Pomfrey said as she took some cream and put it on my face. I felt my face begin to burn. I felt my eyes start to water and tears run down my cheeks. "What did you put on it's hurting her more!" Fred said in protest. "Mr Weasley calm down. The ointment will help her. It will take it's time unfortunately." Madam Pomfrey said as she walked into her office. 

The boys came closer. "I'll be alright don't worry." Fred put his hand up and wiped away a tear. "I hate to see you upset though." He said in a hushed tone. "I'll live I hope." "You better. Who else am I going to copy work from?" He said with a smirk. I giggled a bit. "Maybe you should try and do some of your own work for a change." I said raising my eyebrows. "What are you trying to do? Kill me?" Fred put his hand over his chest and dramatically fell to the ground. Cedric and I just looked at Fred lying on the floor like he was crazy. Madam Pomfrey walked in. "Mr Weasley get up off the floor. Now Mr Diggory and you may leave now. Miss Holmes needs her rest and she will not get any with you two are here. Now off you go." Cedric came closer to me and kissed my forehead. "I'll see you later Rose." He said quietly and then walked slowly out. Fred stood up quickly. "Well it looks like I have to leave you." Fred said sadly. "I'll see you later. Don't stress we will see each soon." I smiled. He came and hugged me. "I'll see you later my Rose." "Bye Fred, see you later." I blushed as he said my Rose. He then skipped out the hospital wing with a smile on his face. "Well, Miss Holmes I will say one thing, Mr Weasley has a kind heart towards you." "What do you mean? Fred is kind to everyone." "Yes, I am sure, and you will be staying here for the night" Was all she said before she went back to her office. I watched as she retreated back to her office and all I could think about was what she said and Fred.
