Chapter 3: The Breath

When Sabito said his name, you didn't know what to think. He seemed familiar with his peach-colored hair sticking out of his hood, but you couldn't identify who he was due to the mask that was covering his face. 'Sabito?' you thought to yourself silently as Sabito's eyes were staring at each and every one of you. 'That mask.. Have I seen that somewhere before?' you thought as you had the urge to open your textbook again. You halted yourself from doing so as Sabito sighed loudly.

"I want to make this clear. Do not mention anything about my uniform to anyone. No one can know that it's still alive..or what's left of it." he said as you tilted your head in curiosity. 'His uniform?' you thought as you remember it said the words "DESTROY" on it.

That uniform is familiar. Why does everything seem familiar?!' you thought as your head turned to look at Tanjiro and Nezuko. They both shrugged as you looked back at Sabito. "Sabito, what do you mean that 'it's' still alive?" you asked as Sabito looks at you.

"Well then.. Nevermind. I don't have to explain this to you. Carry on with your night then." Sabito said as he immediately turns around. Your group looked at him with wide eyes. Nezuko walked next to you and looked at you in the eye. She could tell that you were desperate to ask questions. Tanjiro, who was silent during the whole interaction, looks at him. "Sir, wai-" Nezuko was interrupted by Tanjiro.  For some reason, he had the urge to reach out and grab his sleeve and so he did. Tanjiro walked past the both of you and grabbed Sabito's sleeve desperately. Sabito turns around questioningly as Tanjiro pauses before he thinks about what he was going to say.

"Please sir.. Explain to us what just happen. All I know is that you killed that demon. How?" Tanjiro asked as Sabito looks at him. "I slayed the demon and he disintegrated. Simple. How did I kill them? Practice. Hammer everything I've learned into my flesh. That's how." Sabito answers as Tanjiro shooks his head. Sabito tilts his head curiously as Tanjiro began to speak. While he was speaking, Nezuko and you stared at each other.

"What is he doing?" you whispered to Nezuko as she shrugs. "For the first time, I don't know what my brother is even doing." she whispers back as you giggled a bit. The both of you began to focus on what Tanjiro and Sabito are saying.

"That sword.. It's a Nichirin Blade isn't it? And you're a part of the-" Tanjiro was interrupted by Sabito when he covers Tanjiro's mouth with his hand.

"Didn't you hear me the first time?" Sabito chided as Tanjiro thinks for a moment before widening his eyes. 'It.. He was referring to the Demon Slayer Corps! Wait.. Why does he want to hide that? Wouldn't that be great news?' Tanjiro thought as you stepped to Tanjiro's right side while Nezuko was on his left.

"Ah. So now you realized." Sabito said as Tanjiro vigorously nodded.

Unlike Tanjiro, both Nezuko and you did not realize what was going on. 'Realized what? Ugh. I need to focus.' you thought as Tanjiro stood silently. For Tanjiro, he was thinking for a few moments. 'The Demon Slayer Corps is alive.. If it's alive, then I could protect my family and friends. Right? Right.' Tanjiro thought as he looks at Nezuko for a few moments with a smile. Nezuko was wondering why her brother was smiling at her, so she smiled back without thinking. He then turns to you with a smile and he nods, making up his decision.
