Chapter 8: Final Selection

When you heard those footsteps, you didn't know what to think. You just felt tense. You could feel the amount of power that radiates from them as they were walking towards the plaza. "The amount of power they radiate from walking is just... Their power is insane..." you muttered as Zenitsu heard you and nodded. You heard their footsteps behind you as you shivered in nervousness. 

'They're the Hashira. I cannot embarass myself in front of them. (Y/N)! Do not embarass yourself. Do not embarass yourself.' you repeated in your head. As a result of neevousness, you immediately clenched your eyes and held onto your bag.

Zenitsu was shivering from nervousness like you. He could hear the tension surounding everyone, and the tension made him nervous as well. "I'm going to die..." Zenitsu whispers to himself. For Tanjiro and Nezuko, they  were looking at each other nervously as they felt a breeze walking past them. It was quick, but Tanjiro saw some of their faces as they walked in front of everyone and next to the little girl. Tanjiro looks at them and noticed there were ten people in total. Tanjiro reached over and shook your shoulder to get you to look up. You opened your eyes and immediately looked up as you first noticed Sabito and Giyu standing next to each other. 'They look like they're search for someone.. Tanjiro and Nezuko maybe?' you thought as your thoughts were interrupted.

The black-haired girl began to speak, "These are the top ranking Demon Slayers in the corps. They've dedicated their lives to train and fight demons." She looks at everyone with an unfaltering smile. She then spoke again, "They will be introducing themselves in the exam you'll be taking. Please give them your utmost respect when dueling with them." she said as she looks at the white-haired little girl to continue. She got the signal and took over the announcement.

The girl spoke, "We will decide which Hashira you'll be dueling to observe your skills. A few of you have trained with some of them, so we will be making sure you will be placed with another Hashira. Each Hashira has their own obstacle or examination that they've prepared for you. Ultimately, you'll be dueling them after the examination. To start, please enter the building to my right. Once you enter, you will register and receive a card from the kakushi that will tell you which room you're going to in order to wait and commence the exam. If you do not pass, you are not allowed to disclose any information or else you would be in trouble with the government since they're funding us. You may now prepare."

The two little girls and the Hashira turned around and went to the building. After they left, everyone began whisper and speaking about the exam. You felt so much relief after they left as you took a deep breath. Your legs felt like jelly as you were ready to fall down and sleep throughout the rest of the exam. Nezuko saw the amount of relief you had as she chuckles at you.

You looked around and saw around fifty people in the metropolitan city. 'All of these people and only nine or ten get to enter..I wonder what would happen to those who don't pass the final selection. Do they become kakushi or healers?" you wondered. You turned to look at your group.

"You guys.. I'm quite scared which Hashira I'll be dueling. Heck! I just hope I get Sabito and Giyu." you muttered as Zenitsu quietly cries. 

Zenitsu heard you and yelled, "Sabito and Giyu?! There's going to be two of them! You're going to duel with two water Hashira! Do you even know how hard that is?"  He began to freak out and crouched down in fear. 'Honestly same buddy.' you thought and smiled nervously at him.

Tanjiro bends down to pat his back as he spoke, "I think that only one Hashira needs to battle you while the other one observes if you see two Hashira in the room."  Zenitsu looks at him with tears pouring out of his eyes.

 "R-Really..?" Zenitsu said as Tanjiro nods to reassure him.

You smiled at them and looked around to see people heading towards the building. You turned and tugged on Zenitsu's shoulder to get him up as you pointed towards the building direction. He looks up at you and noticed where you were pointing. Tanjiro and Nezuko looks towards the direction as well.
