Kassandra's POV
School has honestly been terrifying.
Everywhere I looked people have been staring at me or rather, at Ravanna.
In every class, she was all that they talked about- whispered about.
I've never had this much attention directed towards me even if it wasn't me specifically. Everywhere we go, people stare and point.
Boys kept calling out to her, trying to get her attention but she would hardly give them a glance.
There are snide remarks that are constantly thrown, "Hey gorgeous, come over here, I'll show you a better time than she ever could."
There's always laughter afterwards but Ravanna's responses make me smile, "I seriously doubt that, I would tell you to go fuck yourself but I am absolutely positive it would be a disappointment."
I could hear the sounds of disbelief and laughter. I reach for Ravanna's hand and bury my face into her shoulder to hide my chuckles.
As we were heading to class, I was surprised when she followed me into each of them and appeared on the attendance sheet each time.
I smiled though, leave it to her to figure out how to have the same classes as me.
Her eyes would always stay on me, almost never straying.
I grew worried though, ever since she came back from her talk with Lucifer it's like she's been on high alert. Though her eyes wouldn't leave me, she would twitch at the slightest noise, as if she was ready to move at a moment notice.
Are you ok?
I didn't have to face her to know that she was already staring at me.
Why do you ask?
I shut my eyes and sighed, You haven't looked away from me for more than five seconds ever since your meeting with Lucifer.
She leaned forward and put her head on my shoulder.
She didn't respond for a while but she did lay her hand on top of mine, stroking her thumb across my skin.
You haven't asked me about what he said.
She sits up slightly and her other arm pulls me towards her and now I'm the one leaning against her.
My head is tucked just underneath her chin, my hand still encased in hers and her other arm is gently caressing the side of my stomach.
I figured if it was important you'd tell me, if not then it's probably none of my business.
She hums and pulls me closer to her.
You are an absolute treasure.
I huff at her response, "You haven't answered my question."
She sighs, "Yes, I am ok, I'm just reflecting on some information."
I nod against her.
For a moment, it's silent and everything seems to fade away but then the bell rings, making us both jump at the sound.
I groan into her shoulder and reluctantly lift my head and stand up from the desk. The class had been rather laid back, the teacher not the most passionate about the selected subject.
We both headed to the door but not without me being tripped, I was bracing myself for the impact against the floor but Ravanna was at my side before I could even process what happened.
I was in her arms and she pulled me into up into a position where I was able to stand, "Are you ok?"
She pushed a couple of strands of hair out of my face, caressing it with both hands - I placed mine over hers and nodded.
After that motion, both of us turned our gaze to the one who had caused me to trip.
It was Katie.
She had a surprised look on her face because I hadn't fallen but when her eyes turned to Ravanna, she went completely pale.
I faced Ravanna to see why Katie reacted the way she did.
When I did, I was mesmerized. Her eyes had turned an almost raging fluorescent green. The pupils reshaped and reformed but unnoticeable to those that didn't know what to look for.
They were pulsing as if they were struggling to retain their shape.
She moved towards Katie like a jaguar would leap for its prey. There was a resounding noise when Ravanna slammed her against the classroom wall. She had her suspended a foot off the ground, her hands clenched the lapels of her shirt.
"What did I tell you about going near Kassandra?" She said well more like hissed.
Katie has gone completely white, she sputters, not being able to form complete sentences.
Even though I wanted to hurt her, I couldn't let Ravanna do it.
I stepped up behind her and laid my hand on her shoulder. She turned to me with great hostility but once she looked at me, it was as if all the fury left her body.
"She's not worth it," I say.
Ravanna looked scandalized, "But you could have been hurt."
I smiled at her, "But I wasn't, you were there to catch me."
Her eyes searched my face and she sighed, she turned back to Katie and says, "If you try something like this again, not even Kassandra will be able to stop me from what I'll do to you."
She lets go of her and Katie drops to the floor, scrambling to get up.
She runs out the door as do all the other students, the teacher seemed so disinterested, he hardly cared what was going on as long as we didn't get loud as to notify the principal.
I wrapped my arms around her shoulders and pulled her into a hug.
She sighed as she returned it, "You are too kind for your own good."
I laughed and tucked myself into her, "That's why I have you here to protect me."
We stood there, just holding each other, not wanting to let the slightest of spaces between us.
I turn to face her and whisper into her collar bone.
"Can we go home now? This was our last period."
I hear her sigh in relief, "Please" she agrees.
I laugh at her reaction and pull away from her to take her hand.
I start leading her out the door.
"I'm driving though."
She lets out a gentle chuckle as she says, "Ok."
