Thomas POV
"Ask the oldest story here," Remus suggested with a shrug. "So either go to the Corruption King or find Wylan."

"Well great," Virgil sighed. "You chose the two scariest people here."

"I take that as an insult," Deceit said.

"Good," Virgil hissed.

"I also take that as in insult," Remy copied. "I might not be able to sleep but don't doubt that I won't put you to sleep."

"Fucking fight me,"  Virgil growled.  Remy pulled off his gloves.  The palms and backs of his hands had strange swirling tattoos on them.

"No fighting,"  Patton chastised, stepping between the two of them.

"What's that?"  I asked.  "There's nothing about that in your story."

"Wait seriously?"  Remy asked, doing a double take.

"Yeah, what are those?"  I asked again.  Remy quickly slid his gloves back on and pocketed his hands.

"I have the power to but people asleep by touching them,"  Remy sighed.  "But of course it doesn't work on myself."

Everyone was silent now.  I made things awkward, like I always do.  Emile rested his hand on Remy's arm and the two looked at each other for a while.  A two men usually so...intimate with each other in this strange land?

"Let's go to Wylan,"  Virgil suggested, breaking the silence.  "There's no way in hell that we're going to Briar Palace."

"Let's get this over with than babes,"  Remy said quickly.  "Then drinks on me at the Bramble Tavern."

"Tea too,"  Emile said, Patton nodding along.

"Yes, tea for those that don't want alcohol,"  Remy sighed.

"Let's get this over with,"  Virgil sighed.

He shifted back into a fox and went running in the direction of the forest.  Patton slipped his arm around mine and we followed.  Everyone else following after.

"Patton, which story is Wylan?" I asked. "Why did Virgil say he's scary?"

"Wylan can be...odd," Patton tried to explain. "He looks scary...if I'm being honest. But he's still one of my children and I love him."

"Wait, he's your son?" I asked in shock.

"No silly," Patton laughed. "I just adopt everyone that I meet. Especially people smaller than me which is hard since I'm short."

"Oh," I whispered.

"So that makes you my kiddo too," He told me with a smile.

"I guess that's okay," I mumbled.

"You'll learn to accept it," He said. "Everyone does. Virgil was the easiest since he's so lonely but Deceit was the hardest because he thinks that he doesn't need anyone except Quinn...and Evan."

"If your going to gossip about us," Deceit said loudly. "Either get better at whispering or include us."

"I'm sorry!" Patton squeaked, flushing bright red. "I'm just trying to explain everything to Thomas since he knows nothing about our world."

"I may speak in lies most of the time but I truthfully believe that Thomas doesn't need to know our personal lives," Deceit told him passive aggressively.
