TRIGGER WARNINGS
Thomas POV (obviously tho why do I keep putting this??)
"Wait," Quinn mumbled. "Where's Wylan?""Oh shit," Remy groaner, rubbing his forehead.
"Is he not around here?" Patton asked, looking around.
"I didn't see him..." Evan answered softly. "Maybe my mom will know."
"Then let's go ask her," Patton said, quickly pushing Evan towards the open ocean.
The rest of us followed the two along the beach of the cove, over the rocks forming the cove and onto a sandy beach. The large grayish fin sticking out of the water loomed in the distance.
However, we all paused upon seeing what was on the beach. There was a person, except two large green, violet and grey wings sprouted from their back. They were writhing around in the sand in a manner that suggested insanity. Otherwise I couldn't make out much more about the person.
Then Virgil went running across the beach towards the person. We all shared confused looks before following Virgil. He started yipping at the person who in turned jumped to their hands and feet. The person puffed up their feathers like how a threatened parrot would.
"Wait...Emery?" Patton asked, tilting his head. "Oh my goodness!"
Patton went running to the person and practically launched himself at the person for a hug. Emery rung a bell in my mind but I couldn't place where I heard it before.
The rest of of walked over slowly. Obviously we had no clue who this person is. Which was strange for me because I'm usually the only one out of the loop about things in this world.
"Guys!" Patton said happily. "This is Emery, one of my many adopted children."
Patton was still hugging Emery tightly. He were just sitting there awkwardly in the sand. Emery had brown hair, pale skin with a few freckles, and the strangest eyes. The right eye was a light green and the left was a pale blue color. How is it possible for someone to have two different color eyes? But his wings were gorgeous. They were beautiful shades of violent, green and grey.
"Where have you been?" Patton asked in his dad voice but there was worry in his eyes.
"Being hunted by King Deveroux," Emery answered softly. He stretched his wings up, which shook most of the sand off, but it made wounds visible all down his wings.
"You're a harpy," Evan gasped excitedly.
"Aren't ya extinct?" Remy asked. "Someone back me up...these things are supposed to be dead."
"We're just endangered," Emery snapped. He seemed angry about that comment but otherwise his voice was soft like Evan's.
"What's a harpy?" I asked.
"A person with wings," Deceit answered. "They were thought to be extinct. King Deveroux had his guards kidnap them so he could hunt them for sport and use their wings as decorations. There's a supposed whole section of the palace full of harpy wings, called The West Wing of Wings."
"That's horrible," I mumbled.
"It is," Deceit sighed, but then his face froze. "Wait, Patton, you knew that harpies weren't extinct and you didn't tell anyone?"
