The trees speed past Amelia's car window. The warm rays of sun that fell on her face from the clear blue skies ware regularly interrupted by tall trees getting in the way. Amelia sat with her eyes closed listening to music, the sound of a certain lo-fi stream filled her ears and made the pass of time irrelevant to to her until she felt the car turn sharply. Her eyes shot open to see the car turning into a driveway.
At the end of the driveway sat a cute old looking blue house, it looked to have two stories and maybe a cramped attic by the shape of the roof, upon further viewing Amelia deduced that the house probably also had a basement by the windows in the concrete foundation. Amelia readjusted her perspektive to take in the architectural whole of the house, it was pleasing to the eyes and had an overall calm cottagecore vibe about it.
Amelia opened her car door and stepped out into the driveway, as soon as she took her first step, she felt the stiffness in her legs and realized that she had been sitting down for way to long and should probably had stepped out of the car that they had passed 30 miles before arrival. Her legs ached as she took a few steps from the car. She stretched her body, reaching up to the sky to undo the past five hours of cramped seating space.
A muffled sound made Amelia shift her headphones off her ears.
"Ami, sweetie, would you help me with these boxes?".
Amelia turned around to see her mother holding a box of what looked like plates.
"sure thing, mom".
Amelia pulled her headphones down so that they rested on her neck. Her mother walked past her as she made her way to the trunk. She picked up a box with "kitchen" written on it that probably contained some cups under the visible mountain of packing peanuts.
She carried the box though the door and took a good look around her, it looked typically suburban, white doorframes and pastel patterned wallpapers. the moving vans had been there a week ago, so all the familiar furniture sat against the walls. She spotted her mother through the second door frame on the left which she presumed was the kitchen. She knew she was right when she entered the room, it was a typical kitchen, exactly what you would imagine. Seeing the one box on the tiny table in the center of the room, she walked up and put the box next to the other one.
"thanks, Ami. you can go get your stuff and chill in your room upstairs, it's the one closest to the stairs. it has a nice view.", said Amelia's mother, she was standing at the stove, presumably warming up some microwave food.
Amelia meandered out to the car again and grabbed one of the four boxes labeled "Amis room". She was tired and the climb up the stairs seemed like a mile. She entered the room closest to the stairs and saw her furniture but the most notable pice was her bed, she had really missed that bed. She placed the box on the floor and threw herself on the bed.
Every part of her thanked her for the soft mattress, and the fact that this mattress wasn't constantly moving like her car seat had been. She almost drifted off to sleep before she remembered something. She rolled over onto her back and shouted, hoping that her mom would hear her.
"moooam, where is dad, i thought you said he would be here!", she almost accepted the fact that her mom hadn't heard her until she heard a shouted reply.
"he got lucky, he found a job at the newspaper and will be back later tonight!".
With her one question answered, Amelia decided that a nap was well in order.
Her nap was ended by the sound of the front door shutting loudly, which most likely meant that her father was home. Amilia, reluctantly got up off the bed and made her way down the stairs. the color of light that streamed in though the window at the bottom of the stairs suggested that she had been asleep for three or four hours. Her dad stood by the front door, taking off his coat. As soon as he turned around, Amilia rushed to hug her dad, she hadn't seen him in days and it had been a gap in her life.
The oven lasagna that had been for dinner had been better than Amelia had expected, it had quenched her hunger and had made her satisfied. She was currently sitting on their large couch in the living room with her parents, watching some random discovery channel documentary. Amelia loved these kinds of evenings, being with her family. Most teens would have protested moving out of state but Amelia didn't mind, her home had never been tied to a place, her home had always been with her family and this move had brought her closer to her family by moving into her dads childhood home and therefor closer to her family history.
Her family history, the thing that had brought her here, when some look at family history that think of their ancestors but not Amelia, her family had been involved in something so much bigger. A secret group that protects something sacred and true, the light side of the sospre continium, the light force of day that sheds light and generosity. the group is called "the sun blessed ones", Amelia knew that on day she would join their ranks. Thats actually why they had moved here, this little town was the epicenter of not only the light force bur also the dark one, the dark one was the opposite of the light, and according to all that Amelia had herd, the dark force was something of evil and had to be destroyed, the reason that hadn't happened yet was because the dark force also had a group tp protect it "the moon touched ones". in her childhood she had been told that they were evil pagans who were just as dark as the force they protected.
The documentary turned out to be about desert mice and it was pretty late by the time it was over and sense Amilia had school school the next day, she decided that her going to bed would be for the best.
As she entered her room she almost stumbled on a box, she looked down to see all her boxes. She hadn't seen them when she ran downstairs, her mom must had brought them up, the thought of unpacking crossed Amelia's mind but she made the judgement that it would be better if she did it in the morning. She floped onto her bed and drifted off to sleep.
