The sound of Amelia's alarm woke her the next morning. She had slept well. She sat up and prepared herself mentally for the day, the stiffness of the night faded from her body as she sat on the side of her bed, she blinked the sleep out of her eyes and was reminded about the boxes when she saw them by her door.
She resigned herself to the fact that she would have to unpack them before school, but she also made the decision that getting dressed had to be her first priority. She stood up from her bed and walked out of her room and across the hall to the bathroom.
After a quick shower and brushing her teeth, she walked into her room, drying her hair. She knelt down and rummaged through the box where she saw clothes. After digging though it for a few moments she came to the realization that dumping it all out would be more effective.
She took the box and turned it upside down. all her clothes fell out over the floor, two pieces in particular caught her eye, a pastel purple plaid skirt and a big white sweater.
While assessing her outfit she had added a pair of white thigh high socks, a pastel pink bucket hat and her pastel blue platform sneakers. When she was happy with her first day look, she turned to the three upright boxes and the pile of clothes on the floor.
She lifted the pile and put it un her bed, she organized them and then put them away. She did the same with two of the other boxes, filling the shelves.
When it came to the third box, she was more careful. she put the the box on her table and carefully removed to big piece of paper from it. She stepped onto her bed and hung her ouron high school host club poster above it, she continued to do the same with her rainbow flag. after putting up her most prized possessions, she glanced at a clock and made the judgement that it was about time to get going to school.
picking up her pastel mint green backpack from where she had placed it ten minutes ago and taking one last look at herself in the mirror and fixing her long brown hair.
She ran out of her room and googeled her schools lokation on her phone, she skipped down the stairs and then out the door, she knew that her mom would be home all day so she didn't bother to lock the door.
the sun was shining and Amelia couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day to walk to school. This little town was charming and it felt picturesque, the air was filled with life and peace, Amilia had a feeling that she was going to be happy here.
as she walked, she started to see other kids her age walking in groups in her same direction, she presumed that these kids would be her classmates. When the actual schools came into view Amelia felt her stomach sink a bit, it was a brick building that looked like it would suck the souls out of children, and considering what schools do, it probably could.
Amelia hurried her steps when she heard the familiar sound of a school bell ringing.
everyone was already in their classes as she wandered the halls. She had gotten her skedual from the front office when she entered but they hadn't been to good at direction so she was left to find her class on her own. she was supposed to be in class A7 but the halls were long and many. She had passed both A6 and A8 but no A7.
she walked thought the winding halls with her eyes fixed to the class labels. She was beginning to get stressed and started walking faster, she was picking up speed until she felt herself run into something and then falling backwards and then hitting the ground.
Amelia shook her head briefly to regain focus. She looked up to see that the thing she had run into was actually a someone, a very scary looking someone. they glared down at her with anger, Amilia felt fear hit her for a second.
they were tall, their hair was blond and their angry eyes were clear blue, they were wearing a leather jacket over a white shirt, rip jeans and doc martens.
Amilia felt a brief need to run away until she remembered that she had somewhere to be. Amilia scrambled to her feet which also gave her a better perspective, the stranger was at least four inches taller than her.
"so-sorry for running into you but do you happen to know where class A7 is?".
the anger faded from the strangers eyes, not that is made them look any less scary. They sighed exasperatedly, their voice was cold when they answered.
"it's down the hall and to the left.".
they walked past her after the response. She was to focused on getting to class to look after the stranger.
the class got quiet when she entered the class. she was panting from running the last bit of the way. The teacher turned to her.
"welcome, I'm miss rowley, you must be Amilia mctarish?". said the teacher in a kind voice.
"yes, sorry for being late, i got lost".
"it's good that you are here now, would you like to introduce yourself to the class?"
Amelia nodded, she walked to the middle of the front of the class and turned to the other students.
"hi I'm Amelia mctarish, I'm really exited to be here and make new friends".
Amelia's eyes swept over the class, none of the kids looked particularly nice until she spotted a girl in the second row, next to the window sat a girl who wore big smile and looked like a lolita fashion show threw up on her.
"nice to meet you miss mctarish, would you be so kind as to take a seat", asked miss rowly as she nodded to an empty desk next to the smiling girl.
amelia nodded to the teacher and the took her seat. the smiling girl spoke as soon as Amelia sat down.
"hi, I'm Milli, did you just move here?", asked the girl enthusiastically.
now that Amelia got a closer look could she see that the color on Milli weren't contained to her clothes, she had black long curly hair, brown skin and and bron eyes. Amelia thought she was quit pretty.
"yeah, I just got here yesterday", answered Amelia slowly, she had been a bit taken aback by Milli's excitement.
"you are gonna love it here, this town doesn't have much but it's all good vibes", said Milli.
"i hope so", answered Amelia and smiled.
