Chapter 7: Kuvira's Deal
"If you agree to our terms, I will send my troops, for protection, I will send you food and supplies from all over the Earth Kingdom, I will bring peace. And all I ask of you, is to bow to me, showing you accept me as your great uniter and agree to my terms. If you do so, you will remain a citizen, and live your lives accordingly. If not, you will be thrown into prison." Kuvira concluded her speech. The rows of people fell, no one dared disobey, until Kotori's line fell. Kotori's knees did not bend. She received terrified looks from below and glares from her level.
With this being one of the first towns Kuvira was going to take, she took the time to make a example out of Kotori. Regularly, Kuvira would have just sent her to prison then and there, but she needed to make an example. Kuvira stepped over the people whom were on this faces, until Kotori was face to face with Kuvira.
A slight shiver was sent down Kotori's spine, but she didn't let it show. "What is your name?" Kuvira asked. "Kotori" Kotori answered. "Kotori, do you understand my terms? Completely?" Kuvira asked. "Yes I do. And I will not bow to you." Kotori answered, her voice quivering. "You understand by doing this, you're committing treason against the Earth Nation? And will be cast into prison." Kuvira questioned.
"I would only be committing treason against you." Kotori answered, her voice slightly shaky. "So this is your decision?" Kuvira asked. Kotori simply nodded. "I want you to think this through, completely. You are young, and have a long life ahead of you. And I'm sure you don't want to spend it in prison." Kuvira "pleaded". "I have thought it over plenty." Was Kotori's response.
"I want you all to know anyone, acting such as Kotori, will be thrown into jail. Just like her. Guards! Take her away." Kuvira shouted over te crowd. Just as the guards were about to grab her, a pillar of earth came under Kotori, throwing her into the air!
Kotori pulled the top layer off the pillar and pulled it under her feet. She Earth Bent in the air and started flying away on her stone board. "After her!" Kuvira ordered. Three of her bending troops flew out of the crowd and were after her. They had finally caught up, and one of them compromised her control of the rock slab and she started to wobble. She could no longer control the stone which had been bent by another bender. Loosing complete control, Kotori fell.
When the troops had come to where she fell, she pulled large amounts of rock from the ground and fired a large boulder at each. They were all thrown back and Kotori created another pillar beneath her feet. Once finished, she started taking pieces of her thin tower as ammo, firing stones below. She also blocked shots also being fired back at her. Then, she missed one. One single stone. And she was thrown off her tower and hit hard.
They swarmed Kotori, she pulled a wall of rock surrounding her. She pushed the wall away in all directions, clearing her path. But this time, when the smoke cleared, instead of there being more troops, she was standing in front of Kuvira. Kotori took a fighting stance. Kuvira, with a moment from her hand, had spun the earth beneath Kotori around, causing her to face the opposite direction. Kotori threw her hands back and forced her feet through the air. While standing on her hands, she made yet another tower. She stood back onto her feet and forced her hands forward.
The tower began to fall in Kuvira's direction. Kuvira summer salted out of the way as her opponent tumbled to the ground. Kuvira shot metal at her hands. The metal clamped around her wrists and Kuvira pulled the metal up, pulling Kotori off the ground. Kotori swung her legs forward, and pushed Kuvira to the ground with the crack she was able to bend with her legs.
Kuvira stopped bending and Kotori fell. Kotori could not get the metal off her wrists, so she left it. Kuvira stood up, barely looking like she was even slightly hurt, and cast metal towards her feet, clamping metal around her ankles. This time Kuvira lifted her in the air by her hands and feet. Unable to move her arms and legs, Kotori dramatically threw her head forward and the earth began to split. But the crack in the ground was not under Kuvira. Kotori's aim was off. Kuvira slung metal around Kotori's forehead. Unable to move at all, Kotori gave up with a sigh as she closed her eyes.
