Chapter 8: Wanted By the Chief Herself

There was a buzz and a telegram started printing off. Before the boy manning the table grabbed it, Kuvira snatched it off the printer. She crumpled the paper and let it fall to the ground. She made her way to the front of the train where Baatar was. She didn't look upset, but Baatar could tell she was.

"I would like to speak to you Baatar. Privately." Kuvira ordered. "Of course." Baatar stated standing up. A few men walked out of the room. "What's wrong?" Baatar asked. "Kotori got away." Kuvira started. "So what's the big deal. Why was that girl so important?" Baatar asked. "She is the grand daughter of Sokka. Sokka's sister was Katara which is Tenzin's mother. Meaning that this girl Kotori is related to Tenzin. I know that sooner or later we will start having trouble with the other nations and Republic City, especially after we take Zaofu. Tenzin has high authority in Republic City, and even though I doubt she's met Tenzin, I believe Kotori would have some influence on him. However, if she's not on our side, it won't do us much good." Kuvira explained.

"I see. I will have scouts and troops looking for her all over the Earth Nation." Baatar reported. "Perfect." Kuvira said pleased. Baatar had the communication boy send the message, and Kotori was known to Kuvira's army all over the Earth Nation.

"Hey, I appreciate you letting me into your group and everything, but I really don't need any help. Thanks for helping me out of that metal cage. Listen, Kuvira will hear I've escaped and send people after me, and I really don't want to give you guys any trouble." Kotori declined. "Well it's not like we're not already running from Kuvira." The man said. "Like I said, I thank you for offering, but I really think I'm okay on my own." Kotori repeated and started walking away.

Now Kotori's goal was to leave the Earth Nation, she figured Kuvira would send her troops after her. But Kotori had no reason to stay, it wasn't like she was leaving her actual home nation. She traveled for three days before she reached a boarder. But there was a long wall surrounding it. Not just walls, but there were stations nicely spaced out. And guards everywhere. Kotori put her hand on the ground. As far as her earth bending could see, there was the wall. There was no going around it.

She just staked out for a while, seeing if she could explore and find a blind spot in the security. Two weeks passed and she finally planned her escape. She would bend a tunnel under the wall in the middle of the night and come out on the other side of the wall.

Night came, and during the chaos of the changing of the guard, Kotori started. She created a hole in the ground and hopped into it, closing it behind her. She continued making the tunnel. Longer and longer it went. She thought she was a safe distance away and came to surface.

She hopped out of the hole and started for the woods. She made it behind some trees when she sensed something coming towards her. She started running, but it was much too fast. She turned around, prepared to fight, just as she had done with Jett.

From behind a tree came a large robot. Then another, and another. All together there were four. Then a man came up. "You know, regularly, I would assume you were trying to get in and just tell you to run along. But I know you came from the other side of that wall. I also know you're leaving illegally. Kuvira let's citizens come in and out as long as they have a permit, and why go under the walls if you had one?" He said.

Kotori hadn't been able to see far past the wall, but she didn't even think of people on the outside. Two of the robots charged and Kotori lifted both hands, disturbing the ground they were on and throwing them back. Kotori sensed the man preparing to bend and sank down to the ground and skidded her foot across the earth, sending a small wave through it.

It set him off balance and what he was planning to do was compromised. "Dealing with a well trained bender then?" He asked, a grin plastered onto his face. The robots charged and Kotori pushed the remaining mechanical suits down. "Wanting to make it just us then?" He asked. "You sure talk a lot!" Kotori commented.

He slightly laughed, and his feet left the earth. Kotori knew what was coming. She also jumped from ground and pulled a long rock from the ground, pushing him forward and preventing the quake he was going for. He skipped a few time before landing, then slowly got up. "I haven't had a hit like that for a while. I under estimated you, but it won't happen again." He said with an evil grin.

He fired a large boulder at her and she threw her arms forward to stop the momentum. It had finally stopped pushing her back when a large amount if electricity flowed through her body. It stung and she clenched. Her bending stopped and the boulder fell, shortly followed by Kotori falling to the ground.

Before she hit, she let out a scream of agony before her vision was blurred and she lost consciousness. A man in one of the suits had snuck up on her while she was focusing on the bending solider, and electrocuted her.

The earth bending man came to her and picked her up and took her to the station built into the wall. There was one bending proof cell per station. He gently set her atop the wooden bench and he locked her in the cell. "See what you have on her, if you don't find anything, we'll find out from her herself!" He instructed a man at the telegraph and phone. He nodded and the bending soldier left.

He got the robots Kotori had knocked over with metal bending. Then brought some troops back. He came back into the room and the man at the telegraph had done his research. "I found out who she is and what she was doing and why." He stated. "She is Kotori and is wanted by Kuvira. She is a traitor and is to be sent to a reeducation camp. She was trying to leave the nation." He reported.

"Alright, thank you. We will send her to this reeducation camp here, when the troops are traded out in two days, they'll take her with them." He said gesturing to a small building on the map. "And I want you to report to Kuvira that we have her." He added, looking at Kotori as she laid there motionless.
