"Ricky, I wasn't sure how long you'd be in your room...Have you come to your senses?"

"Come to my senses about what?" I questioned, closing my bedroom door.

"About the divorce." My mom answered, sitting on the couch.

"You're joking, right? I agreed to talk to you because I thought maybe I could get you to understand, not so you could change my opinion. Don't you see the wrong in what you did?" I responded, sitting down next to her.

"Ricky, don't you want me to be happy?" She asked, reaching out to grab my hand.

"Why does your happiness depend on being away from me?" I countered, moving my hand out of the way.

"It's not like that. Yes. I do think I'm happier in Chicago with Todd, but that doesn't mean I don't want to see you. That's why I'm here. Please, Ricky, work with me here." She replied, sighing.

"Fine. I'll try, but don't rush me. Plus, I'm only doing this because I know Nini would want me to try to work things out with you. I know she's hated seeing me like this..." I gave in, getting up. "Well, I'm gonna see if my friends are still in the mood to hang. I missed a lot cause of you." I added, walking towards my room to grab my phone. She just nodded.
