Melissa’s Point of View

Flashback:

I strolled casually into the school, prepared to take on the year. I looked around at all the new faces, most likely all freshman. “Hey, are you helping out with touring?” A deep voice asked me. I look up, only to see an intimidatingly tall guy standing in front of me. He looked as though he could be a football player. “Uhh..” I start, not being able to form words. “I thought only juniors and seniors did that?” I asked, getting my confidence back. “Aren’t you a junior?” He asked, wrinkles forming on his forehead from confusion. “Uh, no. I’m a sophomore.” I reply. “Oh, well do you need a tour?” He asked, flashing me a million dollar smile. “Uh, I guess.” I reply. I haven’t gone to this giant school long enough to be able to find all my classes, so I guess that it isn’t a bad idea to get a tour. “Alright! So what is your first class, uhh….” “Melissa.” I interrupted. “And my first class is Chemistry with Mrs. Morrison.” “Oh really? I have that class first too! I’m Chase.” He exclaimed, his green eyes lighting up as he reached his hand out and shook mine. “Nice to meet you!”

Chase led me through all my classes, only to find out that we share all of our classes. He was silly and loved to joke around. About halfway through the day, I knew that I finally had a friend. I have never had a true friend, and I have a feeling that Chase might just be a true friend to me. We told stories of our lives, and I felt really comfortable around him. All was fine, until I slipped towards the end of the day. Not physically, but with my words. I told him. He knows about Elizabeth and I. What have I done?

:End of Flashback

“Melissa?” Elizabeth asked, looking at me in confusion as she stared at the blank expression on my face. “Um, huh?” I ask, still in a daze from my daydream. “We’re home.” She stated, her smile spreading from ear to ear. I glanced out the window at the large white house, instantly thinking of our old house. My eyesight became blurry with tears as I recalled the painful memories. “I know. I thought the same thing in the beginning.” Elizabeth sighed, giving me a reassuring smile. Her smile was wiped away as her phone began ringing. “Hello?... Oh, yes she is... Yeah, I know… Yep, I think she can… So what’s your name again?... Okay, hang on a second.” Elizabeth confidently stated into the phone. “Melissa? It’s for you. Someone named Chase?” My heart instantly dropped when I heard his name. My stomach twisted and churned as I whipped open the door and released my stomachs contents onto the black pavement.
