Chapter 5
Saturday, it’s five days until my party and its nine thirty in the morning.
“Okay girls, up, up, up. Rise and shine!” Jayne clapped as she opened the curtains to reveal the blinding world.
“Argh, too bright!” moaned Ashley.
“What time is it?” Emma was half asleep.
“What nine thirty, on a Saturday?!” Riley said outraged.
“Yep, breakfast in twenty minutes.” Jayne shut the door with the biggest smile I’d ever seen.
I got washed and dressed before everyone else. Wearing a green, knee-length skirt, a white top with a green cardigan and some white sandals, I threw my hair into a pony-tail, put on my make-up and ran out the door.
As I approached the garden porch where breakfast was waiting, I looked out into the distance and was considering asking Austin for breakfast.
“He won’t be there love” Jayne said as she laid out the plates, “you’ll see him later though.”
Hmm...I thought, he said he’d be there every day and I have to visit...? Before I could finish my train of thought:
“Oh, my, gosh!” Riley screamed, “you look so cute!”
“Mmm... toast in the morning, so yummy!” Emma said as we all sat down.
“So Ri when is Kevin and the guys going to visit?” Ashley asked with a mouthful of toast.
“Kevin and Rob are driving up here on Thursday, but the rest are coming on Friday.” Riley replied.
“So Rob’s coming early, oh... wow” Emma started to go as red as a tomato.
“You’re so into him” Ash laughed.
After breakfast Fred drove us - in the limo - into town and pulled up outside a shop which I have never seen before.
“We need to plan whose wearing what colours” Riley said as we entered the shop.
“I’ve got red!” Ashley said.
“Pink for me” Riley said.
“Well then... yellow? A nice yellow though.” Emma pointed out.
“Ashley you go first then.” Riley ordered. “No, too dark; no, too light; no...”
I faded out of the convocation and I noticed on my phone there were thirteen messages:
Mum:
> How are you? Call me, I love you x
> I heard you’re going shopping? X
> Tell Riley I’m wearing lilac x
Orange:
> Balance: £6.75
> get our latest deals on orange.co.uk/shop
Mike:

> I’m sorry, see you soon x
> miss you like crazy x
Addison:
> Hey boring
> How’s Mike? ;)
Dad:
> Sorry going to be home late.
> I promise to spend more time with you.
> Over the next few days clear out the attic and you can have a room for whatever you want, I love you.
