LONDON, LONGBOTTOMS RESIDANCE.              NEVILLES BEDROOM.

It was y/n's last day at the Longbottom's home, and it was New Year's Eve, in tomorrow's morning she'll travel up to the Weasleys burrow to spend a few nights up there before returning to Hogwarts again to finish off her 6th year. Although right now, y/n and Neville had been transferring the large box which Muggles called television into Neville's bedroom, seeing as Mrs. Longbottom didn't want it inside of her living room.

With the help of y/n too, she managed to set up the TV properly, tune all the channels possible and instructed Neville how to turn the television on and off since there was no remote control, they didn't think it was necessary to buy it. Neville's grandmother came in to watch y/n press different buttons, instructing what means what and how Neville can use it, and with a small smile pressed against the old woman's face she left to go have a gentle conversation with Winnie.

"sorry, i need to see my gran for a sec, wont be long," Neville told y/n as she nodded simply, returning to the television she tried to insert into the walls of his bedroom, watching him jog downstairs to the soft sounds of its been a long long time pushed through the walls of their home.

y/n ignored the slight worry across Neville's face as he tried to leave the room as she continued to fiddle with the wires at the back of the boxed television. she only recalled the expression when she caught a glimpse of Augusta wiping her face as she strolled up to her room - it caused a furrow to y/n's brows upon noting that Neville wasn't walking up behind her.

she fumbled with the wires for a second more, just to give up and wonder downstairs curiously for Neville's whereabouts. she turned on the stairs and landed on the bottom floor, stepping past the kitchen, and headed towards the closed door of the living room; which was usually open.

with a burning bonfire of nerves sat at the bottom of her stomach, she paused at the sound of soft sobs leaving someone, her furrowed expression turned soft, reaching out for the door handle and looked into the room, her eyes immediately landed on Neville, sat on the edge of the sofa, hands dug into his hair meanwhile his shoulders shook.

"neville? you okay hun?" she asked, entering the room and stepped closer to his vulnerable frame.

he didn't respond.

his hands pulled away from his hair as he looked up to her concerned glance, she made note of the bloodshot eyes he looked at her with, the rim of his eyes were blotchy, with his eyelashes soaked of his tears, his dry pink lips gasped for breath, water overflowing in his eyes, until he  scrubbed at his nose, reaching his arms up as a sign for a hug.

y/n grabbed hold of his hand, guiding his arms to wrap around her waist, his face pressed against her stomach, gripping tight to her jumper, crying even heavier than she saw before. her hand trailed against his back, in a reassuring matter, pushing the bottom of her palm into his back to comfort the overwhelmed teen, repeating a circular motion against his back.

"grans been anxious recently with this rising war, she's been thinking too much about my parents," his voice cracked along with the quietly playing record player. "and it's just made me realise that, we actually might not have much time left together, especially due to the fact your technically one of Harry's relatives." he gripped onto y/n even harder.

his sobs had slowed down yet it didn't cause that lump in his throat to vanish miraculously, he continued to cry into her stomach with the sensation of her arms rubbing his back to cause the courage on mentioning what caused his overcoming emotions.
