RASHIDA HAD RUSHED back to the castle without hesitation, she knew exactly what the reason was for Jafar's odd behaviour earlier but she had an idea.
There could only be one thing that would force Jafar to run away so quickly like that, he had found out the one thing she had been trying to keep from him this whole time.
They had known of his plans, everything he had been conspiring against her father and if Jafar knew the truth, that would mean that he would be after the thing that would help him...
The lamp.
"Baba!"There was a loud sweep of the metal against the floor as Rashida opened the palace doors, "Jafar! He's escaped..."
"Hello, Rashida," Jafar sat in the middle of the main stairs, guards by his side and his annoying parrot on his shoulders, but most importantly, golden oil lamp in his hands.
"Jafar," Rashida addressed him, trying to be confident as she walked closer to him, "You made it back before me."
"She's still pretending..." He thought and Rashida's eyes widened. He finally knew.
He stood up, "I know everything."
She felt her heart sink, "For how long?"
She almost makes me laugh.
"A few days," Jafar replied and she felt it drop even deeper, he had known for days? "Probably more...just took me a while to put all the pesky little details together."
The sound of the door opening again made Rashida jump as her father entered, with Jasmine, Dalia, Rajah and whatever was left of the faithful guards.
Jafar's sinister laugh rang out, "I didn't take you for the scared type, Rashie."
"This isn't like you," Rashida was scared, she didn't like how he was acting. It was a side of him he rarely let her see and his much darker, sinister one.
I think you'll come to realise it is very, very much like me...
"Jafar," Hamed was angry, "You should have taken a second chance while you still had one. You should be gone."
Shut up, Hamed.
"Why leave when the city belongs to me now?" Jafar answered and he stood up.
"It's over Jafar," Hamed said, the crowd of people behind him moved in unison.
"Over for you," Iago squawked.
Correct, my bird.
Jasmine spared her a look of longing and Rashida returned her a similar one, letting out a long sigh before turning back to Jafar.
"I've endured your spineless incompetence for long enough," Jafar gazed down at the lamp, rubbing it and the now familiar blue shining smoke treacles down out of the spout, revealing the Genie.
Jasmine, the Sultan and Dalia looked with their eyes open, they recognized him as Aladdin's manservant but here he was standing before them as a blue glowing titan.
Dalia looked the most surprised which wasn't that alarming considering the connection they had developed over the past weeks.
"Master," Genie said, towards Jafar.
"Genie!" Jafar shouted, "For my first wish, I want to be Sultan of Agrabah!"
"Oh, god," Rashida muttered.
Oh, yes, Rashida.
"As you wish, Master," Genie said, reluctantly as he swerved his hands around, white sparkly glow sparking out of his fingers which swirled around Jafar's body in a purple glow.
Finally...
It encased him in magic that changed the regular fancy clothes he was wearing into a much more lavish Sultan type clothing, removing Hamed's Sultan clothing simultaneously.
Darkness surrounded the room as the Genie's magic flourish along the walls, changing the palace's walls into something much more suited to Jafar's style.
"Hakim!" Jafar shouted out to his former right-hand man, "You obey the Sultan, so you will answer to me now." Hakim peered nervously towards Hamed, so Jafar prompted him further, "You know the law. Hakim..."
Hakim slowly readjusted his posture, bowing down to Jafar, "My Sultan!" The rest of the guard followed his lead, bowing to him.
"No..." Jasmine said.
"Hakim..." Rashida shook her head, "I expected more from you."
"That's the problem, Rashida, you expect too much," Jafar shook his head at her before turning to the guard again, "Hakim, marshal an army to invade Sherabad."
Jasmine's eyes were wide, "Sherabad? You cannot..."
"I think we've heard enough from you, Princess. It's time you start doing what you should have done all along. Stay silent," Jafar's eyes were stern, "Guards! Remove her!"
"What?" Rashida asked, "Are you absolutely deranged?"
Rajah started growling at the guards approaching Jasmine, making them step back as he snarled viciously. He wouldn't back down as the guards came closer so Jafar intervened, "Control that cat if you know what's good for you."
"Rajah...Rajah," Jasmine turned to her loyal tiger, "It's all right."
"No, it really is not," Rashida crossed her eyebrows.
What is she trying to do now?
The guards immediately held her shoulder tightly and Hamed snapped, "Don't touch her!"
"Baba..." Jasmine warned him to stand back, there was no use.
"No, he's right. Get your filthy traitorous fingers off her body!" Rashida yelled.
"Rashida..." Jasmine pleaded but nonetheless, the guards stopped in their tracks.
"What are you waiting for?" Jafar shouted.
Rashida stared at her sister, she knew by the gleam in her eyes that she had something to say. Jasmine was always the much more strong-willed between them, Rashida preferred to keep her thoughts silent.
She had gone much of her life being speechless but Jasmine was a lot younger, a lot more bright-eyed and hadn't grown up long enough in the palace to understand the men's power in the court.
However, Rashida didn't mind if Jasmine was going to let everyone have it now. All she was waiting for was her to speak...
