WHEN ALL THE fog had cleared, Rashida found herself standing on the wrong side. She couldn't help but stare longingly into the lamp, knowing that her best friend was trapped in there.

"Is it..." Genie came up behind her, "Alright if I get rid of that? A couple thousand years in the Cave of Wonders would do him some good."

"No, no," Rashida shook her head, she couldn't let go of him - not yet, "I want...to keep it."

"Really, what's a queen going to do with a lamp?"

"It's not just a lamp, Jafar's in there," Rashida grabbed the handle of the glossy black oil lamp, clutching it tightly to her, "And I'm not going to be queen."

"What?" The Genie asked, "What are you talking about?"

"Yes," Hamed came closer to his daughter, "What are you talking about, Rashida?"

"Jasmine...Baba," She gestured to her younger sister, making her join them to create a small circle, "I am so sorry, for all of this, you told me to stop Jafar and I failed you..."

"Don't be silly," Jasmine squeezed Rashida's hands, "You didn't fail us."

"Oh, don't play nice with me sister," Rashida looked over at her father, he had a look of anticipation on his face, "I can't be Sultana if I'm not ready to put Agrabah first. It's not fair to me, or the people."

"I don't understand," Hamed shook his head, "This isn't because of Ahmed, is it? You can find another prince to rule by your side."

"You see, Baba, that's exactly why I don't want to rule. No one should have to rule by my side...no one I don't want anyway."

"Rashida..."

"Listen," Rashida spoke towards Jasmine, "I want to give you my place in line. Take it, when you become Sultan you can use it to change the law. You can be with who you want to be with."

Jasmine smiled, she flung her arms around her older sister, squeezing her tightly. Rashida placed her arms around her too, giving a hug back.

"Thank you!" Jasmine exclaimed brightly, "Thank you, 'Shida."

"You're saying you still want Jafar?" Hamed intervened, "After everything he's done?"

"I'm saying..." Rashida took her father's hand, holding both Jasmine's and his, "Actually...that's exactly what I'm saying."

"Well, I did owe you, so the least I can do is let you be with the man you want," Jasmine said, "Even if it is Jafar."

"Thank you...now go get your thief."

Rashida stood in the misty lands of the Agrabah Desert, the sands blew in the wind past her sari which billowed behind her as well. She had to get as far as she could before doing it.

She stroked Zari, running her fingers across the dry, scaly pattern of her grey skin. She pulled a red apple out of her satchel, holding it towards the elephant who eagerly took a bite, practically swallowing the fruit whole.

"Easy..." Rashida patted Zari's back, she reached into her satchel again, pulling out the black oil lamp.

She took a deep breath before rubbing it, placing it on the rock in front of them as she watched gleaming red steam pour out of it.

"Finally!" Jafar's voice towered above her, "I'm free! It's been an eternity, it's been..." He looked down to see Rashida, half-laughing at him. Iago flew out too, squawking merrily.

"It's been a week," Rashida stifled another laugh, "A week."

"Oh," Jafar bent down, his face in front of hers, "So, what's your wish, master?"

Rashida sighed, "Stop the facade, come on, Jaf."

"You always take the fun out of everything," He rolled his eyes and there was a poof of smoke glittered with dark sparkles as he stood in front of her, now his normal size, still dressed in Sultan excellency. "Hello, Rashie."

"What took you so long, Princess?"

"I just..." Rashida placed a hand on his shoulder, "I was wondering whether I was ready to be with someone so..."

"Evil? I won't change, you know?" Jafar didn't want her to expect too much from him, he hadn't exactly been on his best behaviour and he didn't know what she thought about the side of him she had seen.

"Oh, I know, Jaffie," His heart swelled as she simply gave him a warm smile, "That's why I'm going to have to help you, aren't I?"

"Well, I intend on impressing you this time," Jafar gripped his staff, tearing it in two, throwing it to waste away on the sand nearby. "I do still want to marry you, that wasn't a lie. I do love you, Rashida."

"You do?" Rashida's eyes lit up.

Iago repeated croakily, "You do?"

"I do," Jafar's clothes dissipated into the air, getting replaced with common clothes. "I think I'm done searching for power I can't control. I've learnt my lesson..."

"I sure hope so. I want us to travel the world together, see sights, have adventures..."

"Children?"

"Slow your roll," Rashida chuckled, "Children are a possibility, I would definitely want to start a family with a person I love."

Jafar scanned her body, his eyes lingering on hers, "Do you?"

"Do I what?"

Jafar chuckled, he couldn't believe she had to ask, "Love me?"

"Of course I love you," Rashida held out a hand, her palm spread out for him, "But we've got work to do."

He weaved his fingers into hers, "Then let's get started then."

As they walked along the desert together, Iago perched on Rashida's shoulder and Zari getting gently pulled along on rope by Jafar, he turned to her with a smile. "So...are you ever going to make a wish?"

"I think, maybe, when the time comes I might wish for a certain someone's freedom."

"Is that someone who I think it is?"

"You bet it is."
