The world is a spark to the fuel in my soul
Saying I have been missing out, that I'm not complete or whole
But the beauty and love that they try to define
Are but echoes and reflections of You who have been forgotten
We have forgotten with time
Their shows light up as examples
For me to follow
But if I really consider
All their love and beauty is shallow
These are but echoes and reflections of You who've been forgotten
We have forgotten You in time
We're deceived and our faith grows less
That You, O God, are the best and greatest
If we truly consider all that we see
We know to praise the Maker of all beauty
The world around me is telling me to live for love
My flesh within, is deceiving me of what I am without
The world around me is telling me to live for love
Amen, I say; "My soul, live for God!"
Only when I live for the fountain and author of love
Will I truly know love
I long for the love and beauty of this world
Help me to see that all of that is found in You
We are but reflections of Your love and beauty
Oh, help me to see that!
That You are the Master Artist and Fountain of it all!
I am so distracted
Help me to depend upon Your love
I am not missing anything
The joy You bring is the highest above
You are the most beautiful; I long to see
Help me to see this world's love is but a poor, incomplete expression
(In humble purity, yet loud and open)
May my love for You exceed man's passion
I am so far downstream from You who are the source!
May we not make these reflections our focus and distraction
But see these reflections as Your fingerprints
To set our minds on the right course
The love that this world sings and shows
Is but a whisper and an echo of the love we know
You have made us in Your image and given Yourself to us
O You are Beauty Eternal, and this world's beauty is destined to dust
Selah
Father, You who are above and see all things
Who always was before time began
The life, in every soul, that sings
Whose will is immovable and perfect is Your plan
Mercifully grant to us Your light to understand
For we wish to know and see clearly
The flame of our love is being fanned
By the displays of this world and its glories
God, You have freely given Yourself to us as our Father
And made us Your sons and daughters by wondrous adoption
Grow us more into being Your passionate bride and lover
Who pursues and knows You as her greatest satisfaction
This world is great; with so many delights and beauty
Help us to see You, Creator God, as greater than all of this
You are the Maker and Giver of all good things
So it is You we should be pursuing
Unveil our eyes and reveal Your beauty to show that You are
Our life's greatest satisfaction
Our heart's eternal delight
And our soul's unfailing bliss
