Chapter Five
Waking up with three boys looking down on you isn't like a dream. I was sweating profusely, I could barely breath and my head was pounding so bad, I thought it might explode.
Justin, Alex, and Ethan looked totally freaked. Then I noticed that Ethan was holding an ice pack to his left eye. Before I could speak, Nate came barreling into the room with a syringe. I didn't think I needed a shot but I couldn't get the words out to tell him no.
As soon as the medicine started flowing through my blood stream, the headache started to subside. I could finally breathe normal after about five minutes. Before I passed out again, I had to know what happened.
"Did I do that to your eye?" I asked Ethan. When he nodded, I started to cry. I had no idea why I thought I could have one normal night to myself. No matter what happened, the dreams weren't going away. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't forget the past.
Before I could apologize, I was out. I didn't dream about anything this time. My medicine prevented me from having a wandering mind. Sometimes I was grateful for that, other times, it made me realize how screwed up I really was.
When I woke up, I kept my eyes closed. Nate and the rest of the guys were talking around me; I could feel someone playing with my hair. I wanted to know who it was but figured they would all quit talking once I opened my eyes.
Once I figured out they were talking about me, I listened carefully. "How's your eye man?" That was Nate. He sounded sincere when he asked the question. I wonder what excuse he came up with about the nightmare. I wondered if Ethan said anything about me needing the shot a couple days before.
"God, I wish I would have been here to see her slug you." Justin laughed.
"What do you think she was dreaming about?" Alex asked.
"Who knows? She does it a lot though. The doctors try to figure out what's been going on but they can't find anything." Nate said.
"So, they come up with some kind of super drug for her instead?" Alex didn't seem to believe Nate's excuse. He was very observant.
"Something like that." Nate laughed.
"I don't care what kind of dreams she has. Your sister is hot dude."
"So that means you think I'm hot." Nate joked. Finally, the conversation was going to something normal. I wondered how long they had actually been talking about me. I had to of been out of it for a while.
"Whatever you look nothing like her."
"Now that's just stupid. We are twins we have a ton of similarities."
"I bet if she wore your clothes and put a ball cap on with her hair in it, she would look exactly like you." Alex laughed.
Before they started to put me in his clothes, I opened my eyes. My head was in Alex's lap. He was the one that was playing with my hair. I gave him a small smile which he returned.
"There's sleeping beauty." Justin smiled. I saw that he and Ethan were actually getting along. They were both sitting on the couch acting like good little boys. It made me smile bigger. That was until I got a good look at Ethan's eye. It was already bruising and it was going to be black and blue by tomorrow.
"I am so sorry about your eye." I apologized.
"No biggie. Maybe it'll make me look tough tomorrow."
Crap. I had forgotten about school. I really did not want to go and have everyone stare at me. I didn't want to have to introduce myself in every class. I was going to be the talk of the school for the next week.
