Chapter Eight

I opened my eyes to a room full of people. Mom was resting on the love seat they had, dad was in the chair, Nate was on the floor, and Jay was in a chair with his head resting beside my arm. Justin and Ethan were on a cot and Alex was in the other bed. All of them were asleep. I saw the clock on the wall, it was a little after three in the morning.

I remember getting sick and blacking out. Everything else became a blur. I had needles taped as they stuck out of my arm; Liquid was dripping into one of the IV's. I didn't want to wake anyone up but I really needed to use the bathroom.

I moved my arm that Jay was resting on and he instantly woke up. "Hey baby girl. How are you feeling?"

"Like I got hit by a bus." I croaked. My mouth was really dry and I needed water, first bathroom, I had never had to pee so badly in my life.

"Will you take me to the bathroom?" I asked him. I tried to be quiet so I wouldn't wake anyone else.

Jay noticed and instead of talking, nodded his head. He helped me out of bed and moved the contraption the held the liquid bag. We walked silently to the bathroom. It was difficult not toppling over all the bodies that rested on the floor but we managed.

I still felt weak so I made Jay stay in the bathroom with me, just to make sure I didn't fall off of the toilet. Once I was finished, he let me wash my hands. I looked into the mirror and wanted to cry.

I had dark circles under my eyes and red splotches on my face and down my neck. I looked hideous. "What happened to me?" I asked him. I was almost in tears but blinked them back.

"Whatever medicine you took today was the wrong one. You grabbed a pill bottle that belonged to your mom. Apparently you're allergic to it. It took a while but they finally got you stable."

I was so freaked out earlier; I didn't even think to make sure I was taking the right medicine. Now I had to be more careful. "Where's Kaylee?" I asked. Out of all the bodies in the room, two were missing. Kaylee and Jack weren't here.

"Jack stayed with her at the house. Your mom didn't think it would be a good idea for her to see you hooked up to machines." Good, I thought. Poor Kaylee, I felt like I never got to see her. Sometimes I felt like that was a good thing. The less time I spent with her, the more she would be taken care of. She would be safe. I did miss her though.

Once we got back to the bed, the doctor came in and everyone woke up. Ted, Ethan's dad had been taking care of me. Ethan called and told him about me. I was glad it was someone I knew and respected. I knew Ted would take good care of me.

He checked my vitals and my temperature. It had gone back down to normal and I would be able to go home in the morning. Everyone looked beat and I told them all to go. Jay and Nate would keep watch over me. Mom didn't want to go but I begged her to watch my daughter, finally she agreed.

Nate recapped the day starting with the dream that I had. I barely remember it and from what he said that was a good thing. Then he told me how Jay had found me on the kitchen floor with the pill bottle beside me. After they carried me to the couch, Nate told Alex, Justin and Ethan about what happened to me three years ago. I woke up, puked and then was taken to the hospital. As soon as we walked in I passed out.

The doctors had to figure out what was wrong on their own since I wasn't awake to tell them anything. It was Nate that finally realized I took the wrong medicine when he checked the bottle that he put beck for me. For a week, I wasn't allowed to take any sort of pills or injections. I wasn't sure how well that was going to work out but Nate and Jay promised that they would sleep with me. I even talked them into letting Kaylee sleep with me a couple times throughout the week. I would make it with the help of my family.
