Chapter Six
One of the cutest guys from my old high school came strolling up to me. He had that bad boy look to him that made him look so sexy. He had short black hair that was mussed up like he just got done having sex, his straight nose was raised up in the middle where he had broken it during a football game, his crooked smile always made my heart melt. I was almost in tears as I saw him walk towards me.
"Don't cry beau. I'm really here." Jay took me into his arms and didn't let of me until I stopped shaking. I jumped into his arms and wrapped my legs around his waist.
"What are you doing here?" I asked him. I wiped my eyes with the back of my hand. Then I wrapped it around his neck and didn't let go. I was afraid that if I blinked, he would disappear.
"Your mom thought you might need me."
I was about to reply to him when a little tiny person walked up to us attaching herself to his leg.
"Jay, Jay, Jay." Kaylee squealed.
I jumped back down to the ground and Jay picked her up and started talking to her as if she was the same age as us. He had a way with her that no one had. He treated her like she was his best friend; he treated her like he did me. I was so lucky to have him in my life as was Kaylee.
We walked back to my group of friends. Justin and Alex didn't look happy. Becca and Sam were gawking. I couldn't really blame them.
Jay was completely gorgeous.
After I introduced him, Alex visibly relaxed. Jay walked over and hugged Nate before starting a conversation with the rest of the guys. He definitely fit in better than I did. Everyone laughed at his jokes, smiled at his stories and joked with him as if they all had known him for years. I hadn't realized how much I missed Jay until that moment.
I was sitting down while Alex helped Kaylee bowl. She went right up to him and told him to help. He didn't stand a chance with her. Once she had you in her sights, she was able to get anything she wanted out of you. The thought made me smile.
"Alex is really good with her." Jay said coming to sit beside me.
"He is." I admitted.
"He really likes you too. He hasn't been able to keep his eyes off of you."
"Jay he's only seventeen. He's not ready for the commitment that I have." I told him. No one my age was ready to take on a girlfriend with a child, especially a kid that isn't theirs. Sure, I could go out and have fun and have a boyfriend but then I would go home at a decent time to take care of a baby while he went with his friends and hung out all night long. Then I would have to take her with me on dates when I didn't have a babysitter. What kind of guy wanted that drama?
"I just don't want you to be alone." Jay interrupted my thoughts.
"I'm not alone babe. I have you." I looked at him and even though his eyes were sad, he smiled. He had been my best friend since kindergarten, when we met. He knew everything about me. All my secrets, except one.
"You'll always have me." Jay replied. Then he started clapping. "Woo, that's my girl." He shouted when Kaylee knocked over one pin. She turned her brilliant smile on him.
Once it became eleven, Nate, Jay, Kaylee and I headed home. Kaylee fell asleep in Jay's arms an hour ago and he didn't want to put her down. Jay claimed it was because the floor was too hard, I knew it was because he was so happy to see her.
When we got home, Mom and Jack had a spare bedroom ready for Jay, although he was no doubt going to be sleeping with me. He put Kaylee in her crib and shut off the light. Then he went to the spare bedroom, came back five minutes later, changed into a pair of gym shorts and had his tooth brush in his hand.
