n e c r o p h o b i a (n) - fear of death
tick tok, tick tok
runs my life clock
the needle steps front
my mind runs back
to the days we stood on roofs
drinking cold tea,
standing at the side
not really being a part of the game.
we held hands under the stars
promises to never give up.
the kiss under the moon
the ring on my finger
we held hands in the dark.
you and i against the world
on a stage for all the men
we whimpered and cried
we laughed and loved
and yet that wasn't enough.
we promised not to bid goodbye,
we knew we would meet
but now the clock in front of me
ticks, not for two
but only me.
it is not a goodbye
just a meeting with an old friend
i will meet you again when the light leaves
the moon shines, cause that's when we were us.
hello, i said with a smile
just like i had before
as i greeted you for the last time.
and your smile made it easier
to hear the last tick.
