VI: The scaredy cat

"We're here" I guess we arrived at the cafeteria again. She let me sit down as she went to get our food. I heard her come back as we started to eat our food.

I heard footesteps coming closer to our table but I tried to ignore it. "Oh! Hiichan, anyeong!"

"I've finally found you" I began to question who this Hiichan was. Maybe she's the scaredy cat or the secret keeper? she sounds like I could trust her and her voice is sweet, so she could pass as either. "Hello Yuri"

"Have we met before?" I asked her. I believe we haven't met before but she sounded nice and I wanted to listen to her.

"No, but I was supposed to meet you this morning. But to my surprise no one was in your room" Yena unnie told me that she was a nurse. And she was assigned to wake me up and bring me breakfast.

"Sorry, I'm introducing her to the other patients" Then we both cleaned our table as she went back to return our plates and utensils.

"I'm Nurse Hitomi, you can call me Hiichan if it's only us" I nodded and reached out my hand for a handshake. "You can always call for me if you need any help" then I heard Yena unnie come back.

"Hiichan, you're still here?" I just stood silent as Yena unnie was talking to the nurse. I cant wait to meet all the others. "Actually, I'm going to Minju's room. I thought that you could come with me" then Yena held my hand again as she led me to the room.

"Nurse Honda, Yena and ... new girl?" a voice said as we entered the room. "Ms. Hitomi your five minutes late than yesterday"

"I know, I know. It's just that Yuri wanted to meet you. So I waited for them" then I heard footsteps coming closer to us. "You wanted to meet me?"

"Yes" then I nodded my head. I was about to introduce myself when. "I'll just take the tests that I gave you yesterday. I'll be going now, byeee" then I heard her leave the room. Yena helped me to sit on a chair.

"I'm Minju" I smiled then replied to her. "I'm Yuri and I have retinitis pigmentosa. It's a rare genetic ..." Then Minju started talking with me at the same time.  "disorder that causes one to be blind. It starts with the peripheral vision until you really can't see and ..." she continued to tell more fact. I was so amazed at how she knows about my sickness. Its not everyday that people are informed about your disorders.

"Yena can you stop staring at me like that?" I giggled at the thought that Yena unnie was staring at Minju.

"I'm still amazed at what you do" I faced Yena unnie's side amd gave her a questioning look. "She's has superpowers!"

"Well, you could say that but ... not really" Superpowers? How could one have superpowers? Yena unnie must be bluffing right now. "I dont get it"

"I have hypertymesia, it means I remember everything I see" woah, i've heard about that condition before. It's like they could go back in time and see everything. Every event that happens in their life, they'd remember."I wish I have hypertymesia just like you"

"Why?" I took a deep breath before answering "So I could remember the time when I could still see. I could remember eomma's face, the sky, trees, just everything"

I heard her sigh. "Believe me, it's a blessing and a curse ..." I know what she's saying. She means that she remembers everything even the bad memories. "... Even if I want to forget something, I cant. I envy all the normal people who remembers good memories and just forgets about the bad. My life has been nothing but fear. I actually have PTSD*" now I get the term scaredy cat. She has a past that she cant forget that's why she has a trauma.

*PTSD or Post traumatic stress disorder is a disorder that is caused by a trauma and too much stress. It makes the person relive or experience the traumatic experience. Which gives them negative vibes or makes them scared.

"Isn't that hard for you?"

"It's super hard ... for me, my friends and my family. I'm actually scared of houses, that's why I choose to stay here at the hospital. I'm a research patient, they try to help me recover. My mom visits me every now and then but I feel sory for her since i'm not a good daughter" I felt all the sadness in her tone. I think she about to cry, Yena unnie just kept her silence and listened to us.

"Can I hug you right now?" then I opened my arms out for her. She went closer to me and hugged me back. "I know everything would get better, lets just hope for the best"

She removed the hug as we heard an alarm ringing from her phone (i think). "Ohh ... sorry unnie but you need to leave" I asked her why as Yena unnie answered.

"It's time for her to do her job" she has a job? at the hospital. Does she help the nurse or something. "I get that your confused. I work at a publishing company. They pay me to write reviews for their story"

"It just takes her half an hour to finish a story thanks to her power" I smiled as I stood up to leave. Yena unnie held my hand again as we went to the door. "I enjoyed the talk. I'm Sorry that you have to leave"

We left her room as we stood at the hallway.

"How about we go to the killer's room?" I had second thoughts but nodded anyways.

This is it. I'm finally meeting the killer, I just hope that I go home alive
