"Own the ground you walk on, and let no one walk over you."
Continuing from:
"Hela kind of looks away from her and Mike makes a guilty expression which makes Rebecca angry, if not scared. "Wonderful! 10 mins in here, and I am already 'famous' in Eastview high." She says and then angrily stomps away to the school cafeteria."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Receiving an accusatory glare from Hela, Mike and her go behind Rebecca towards the cafeteria. Hela walks over to her and hesitantly makes eye contact with her. Rebecca sighs and turns toward her, "I'm so sorry Hela," she continues, "It's just...that" she shakily whispered, tears threatening to fall out. Hela felt so bad for her that she wrapped her arms around her shoulders to calm her down. All the while, Mike was standing in the corner sulkily waiting for both of them to calm down.
Finally seeing them break apart, he went up to them, "Um...sorry Beccs. I shouldn't have asked you that..." Mike trailed off, scratching his head nervously to which Rebecca just laughs and shakes the topic off.
Mike catches Hela's eyes widening and he throws him a confused glance.
"Rebecca if you want to join us," Hela says, "just take a seat at that table. We'll be back in a minute." She says grabbing Mike towards the end of cafeteria, leaving Rebecca visibly confused.
"What is your pro- ouch!" Mike shrieks as Hela hit his arm.
"What is MY problem!? Are you serious Mike? You asked her that?" Hela questions shaking her head. "And, Beccs uh huh?" she teasingly continues, to which Mike's eyes widen in horror....and maybe late realization.
"Um guys? All the tables are occupied though..."Rebecca gestures towards the cafeteria proving her statement.
Mike groans and just grabs both of them by their hands takes them outside towards the bleachers making both Hela and Rebecca jerk forward in surprise.
"Problematic girls ugh! This is the first and last time I'm accompanying you people in lunch for real, I swear to god..." Mike murmured the whole time till we reached outside making Hela and Rebecca burst into broken giggles.
The only three people giggling, perhaps the only one happily talking. The students elsewhere had a dead stare to their eyes except a few chatterboxes. They were alive, but not quite.
An unintentional cold stare at their little group. Rebecca noticed – felt – it first probably. She stopped giggling and looked at the other side of the almost empty bleachers; a feeling of being looked at, being stared at. There he was, the picklehead she had noticed earlier. Just standing there, his face lacking any mobility others had. She met with his eyes and a chill ran down her spine. His glare was as cold as being nude in middle of a hailstorm, and as uncomfortable as the chorus girls' corset.
She looked away, Hela and Mike's voice being faded away into distance as she once again looked up to see his face unchanged as marble. He wasn't doing anything, yet the gaze felt like an act of violence. A look that conveyed a bubbling hatred. Disgust perhaps. Rebecca being immensely confused as to the amount of glares they were receiving, yet they were only strangers.
Hela glances upwards, her mouth pursed but slightly open and loose. She notices Rebecca's eyes fixed as if she's looking at someone a yard behind her head. She calls her name causing her to blink and refocus. "Everything alright Rebecca?" Hela asks, concerned.
"Yeah....everything is fine. So anyway what class we have now?" she changed the topic quite noticeably but they decided to ignore it.
She glanced up again in the boy's direction, her curiosity building like a cat fixated upon her pray. She had sensed now, that the year was not going to be an easy one. For neither of them.
