Chapter 6.
As Rebecca managed to pass through the shabby hallways and enter her next History class, whispers reached her ears from the back of the class.
"Where is she?"
"I don't know! I left you two after the lunch break, she was YOUR responsibility, goddamn it." Mike piqued.
Chuckling at their behavior, Rebecca entered the class.
"You! Where did you run off," Hela said narrowing her eyes.
"Oh come one guys! I am not a child," Rebecca stated with a waving hand in the air. "Anyway, which class did I miss though?"
"You missed a class on your first day?" Mike asked horrified, as Hela audibly gasped.
Rebecca is taken aback by their unusual reactions. "Um yeah, why? I didn't think it would be such a big deal..." she trails off.
"Okay listen," Hela grabs her by shoulders and sits her on a bench, "Eastview High doesn't particularly fancy irregular behavior-"
"You're doing it all wrong dudeee. Wait, Becca" Mike interrupts turning towards Rebecca "Do you love your hair?"
Her face scrunched up in a puzzled expression at such a weird question. Nodding her head in agreement she looks at Mike for further explanation.
"Listen. You need to know a lot about Eastview High. Bekenstein is not Colorado. It is a lot different and just goddamityouaresonewhereugh" Mike throws his hands in exasperation.
Shaking her head, Hela continued "Rebecca just keep in mind that any punishment here is not bad," Rebecca nods understandingly "instead they are very hostile." finishes Hela.
"So all you need to know right now is to not miss any class under any circumstances and absolutely no back talking, especially Ms. Jones, Mr. Wilson and be most careful with-"
"Mr. Davies," Mike interrupted abruptly making the other two notice him enter the class.
Hela silently gestures Rebecca to stay silent and Mike nods aggressively in agreement, unfortunately catching Mr. Davies's attention.
Rebecca noticed him enter the class like he was expecting perfect order and scoffed at his expectations.
His huge build with a bush of grey hair at top came to a hold in front of Mike's desk. He waves a file in air, like his hand is a ride at the Disney land. "You got into tutoring program, yes?" said the heavy voice with authority.
Mike nods. Every year, the high school holds a tutoring program. Smart students are paired with the one with lower grades and they have to tutor them for the year. It doesn't sound like a very big deal, but it adds credit to the student's performance....so it is a big deal for us.
"Well..." Mr Davies continues. "Don't think that the program will add credit to MY subject. You still need to pay attention in the class, only grades wouldn't work." Banging the file on his desk, he ended with a cold glare to the other two girls as well. "And you two" he pointed, "be attentive." Saying so, he walked off to his table and continued teaching.
As the minutes of the lesson passed, the silence continued to stretch endlessly as no one dared to even sneeze in his class. The bell rang and still not a soul flinched as everyone knew that the bell didn't dismiss them but Mr. Davies did......apart from Rebecca. She didn't know this.
