[Past]

The wedding of Thranduil and Eluriel was celebrated with much decorum, across neighboring lands. The beauty of the nature around them was especially highlighted. Sprites sang their songs around Greenwood, wind and string instruments hummed in the air.

The ceremony itself was an intimate process. Thranduil and Eluriel walked down the aisle together, dressed in their finest, surrounded by their loved ones. They kneeled at the altar, presided by the king, to seek the blessings of the stars for their union.

The ceremony was followed by a grand celebration, complete with food, wine, and music. It seemed second only to the Feast of Starlight. King Oropher began the party with a toast to the new couple, and the night ended with the couple thanking friends for being a part of their big day. In between, Thranduil and his bride shared many dances, and did everything else side by side.

Despite their passionate attraction to each other, their wedding night was timid, due to the fact that they were not alone in the bedroom. Nevertheless, they had many, many, opportunities, and places, to share passionate nights together in the extent of their marriage.

Married bliss, or any happiness in general, only lasted three years. Arda was taken over by a dark force, and required the combined efforts of all species to put down the enemy. Thranduil was bound to follow his father into battle, and Eluriel wanted to go with her husband.

Ellie was Thranduil's partner, a captain of the army and one of the best soldiers. But Thranduil didn't allow it. He used every trick in his sleeve to convince Eluriel to stay behind. With both the king and he prince gone, Ellie was left to be the face of government.

After a lengthy fight, the battle was won, but at a high cost. Thranduil lead back the surviving elves back to greenwood.

Eluriel was ecstatic when word got back the elves were returning. She dressed up and ran to the highest balcony to spot the retuning troops, but the half mast flags broke her heart. Breaking protocol, she ran through the guards to greet the soldiers.

Thranduil spotted his wife standing in the front and got off his elk. He took a big breath, puffing out his chest, but when he got to her, he hugged her tight. Eluriel managed to pull him off and while he couldn't cry in public, the picture on his face spoke volumes.

Fenrir was next in line after Eluriel, and when Thranduil turned to face him, he was the first to take a knee. The entire kingdom followed suit, kneeling to the new king. A lament played through the forest for the fallen king.

In his room, his old room, Thranduil was too stunned to move. He sat on the bed, without changing out of his bloodstained armor. Eluriel came and sat with him, stroking through his hair. It was when she whispered to him that he properly broke down.

Greenwood mourned King Oropher for three days, holding a memorial burial on the forth. Even Elrond and his family came to pay their condolences. They stayed for the next day, when it would be Thranduil's coronation.

The King and Queen wore extravagant matching royal garments as they walked down the aisle hand in hand. They kneeled at the altar, where Fenrir announced them the new King and Queen of Greenwood and placed their crowns on their heads. When he stood,
Thranduil announced on behalf of himself and Eluriel, their promises for Greenwood's prosperity in the future.

It came to fruition three years later when the kind and Queen introduced their new prince to the kingdom. Legolas, they had named him; their little leaf. And he was a prince indeed, loved by all.

Legolas indeed was the child of Thranduil and Eluriel, keeping everyone on their toes from the moment he first cried. Thranduil got him more things than even Eluriel knew what to do with. He even got Legolas a fawn to grow up with him.

But however much Thranduil loved him, Legolas was his mother's heart. She adored him more than she'd ever loved anything. Even more than she loved Thranduil, but of course they were in her life in different capacities.

She'd memorized every inch of him, from his tiny toes, to the little bud in the middle of his face, to the tiny tips of his ears. His laughter was music to her ears, and his cries made her heart bleed. Thranduil was the heart that kept her alive, and Legolas was the air of her lungs. She couldn't live without either. And for years the three of them were the perfect little family, never one without the other.
